This has been all over the news lately... but here goes..... It is no longer considered a planet. Now it's called a "Dwarf Planet" The fact that it's orbit overlaps Neptune's is one reason. Now our solar system has only 8 planets. There are many Dwarf Planets. Don't know how many there are. Now that would be a GOOD question.

Pluto is now a dwarf planet, as are several other bodies of similar size beyond solar system proper.

the answer to that is yes now pluto is a planet under the new dif of a planet. and now with that there are now 12 planets.

Pluto has be dethroned as a planet, much like St. Christopher has been dethroned as a saint in the Catholic Church.
