Because people prefer the convenience of comparison shopping, time savings, and money saving that can be found on the internet.

Also, if it's a specialty item, it may not be available in your local stores.

1. Things they cant easily get themselves- perhaps its an antique, they only sell it in New York, or you found the item on sales and it is sold out in all of the other stores.

2. Things that are unique and that someone would have to work hard to get themselves - Like a collection of baseball cards

3. Things that are cool but have not hit stores yet- Like laptop stickers and covers.

I love this question but I think I will have to answer it with a question.
Consider this...What is the single thing that that MUST be present when selling something online? A WEBSITE. How do people get websites? They buy them!!!!

Why not sell websites? That's what I do and I absolutely love it.
