Maybe because whites earn disproportionately higher incomes, and thus prefer the lower-tax policies favored by the Republicans.

People tend to fear change. The republican party was once the party of small gov't and for the rich. They resisted equality movements for women and minorities-hence white male domination of the republican party. Their kids shared the same views as their fathers and they continued to vote the same way. Now, republicans tend to spend more on the poor than the democrats. Their healthcare, welfare, social security, medicare, and homeland security laws/acts they passed has greatly exceeded what the democrats proposals were. Americans voted republican because the the country was in a war, there has never been a new president elected when the incumbent was still running during a major war. Eventually people will learn the Republican party is not the party for the rich or for the best of the nation. They have created an 8.3 trillion dollar deficit from the surplus clinton had. All of their economic policies tend to lead to failure and depression---as seen throughout history. There is a reason why all the nations top universities and top economists vote demcrat. For some reason the debt and expenditures the republicans want keep on growing and growing. This will lead to bankruptcy, keep in mnd that we are paying of 400 billion dollars annually for these debts in interest alone!! Amerians tend to be uniformed about politcal matters and the old tend to vote the most. The old want the gov't to take care of them, and they don't care how they get the money, as long as they do. And the old came from the ages of segregation, they were deterred when the democrats tried to promote equality. But the old are starting to die off slowly and america has been coming more and more liberal throughout history. Eventually america will become democrat once again for the best of the economy or it will go bankrupt and be the next russia.

Keep in mind that Jews comprise white voters and they vote Democrat about 66% of the time.
I can answer this 2 ways.
1. Why do I vote Republican?
1. I believe in defending this country.
2. Less taxes = better economy
3. Pro Life (though a lot of Republicans are not)
4. The more money I make, the more I should keep.
5. Dealing witth the illegal immigrant problem by enforcing the borders. Note House Republicans only on this one.
6. Defending families. Marriage between 1 man and 1 woman (which most Americans support)
7. Welfare reform
2. Some people also vote against Democrats. When I say Democrats I mean the party leaders
1. Democrats raise taxes, especially on wealthy people. Their class warfare is disgusting.
2. Democrats pander to unions, trial lawyers (which are the enemy to business), victim thinking of the poor, black community, feminists, etc.
3. Democrats support Affirmative Action, which is reverse discrimination.
4. Democrats spend more and more money on public schools without getting results.

The question should be, why do so many non-whites vote Democratic? There are more non-whites voting for a Democrat than whites voting for a Republican.
This statement is factual, as you can see here: http://www.cnn.com/election/2004/pages/r...

The overwhelming number of voters in this country are white first off, second off political beliefs are not dictated by color alone. perhaps white people simply feel that the Republican platform conforms more closely to thier own views than the Democratic one.

As many caucasians have a better financial position they are less likely to support out-of-control social spending of the left.
Of late, "republican" has become almost synonymous with "religious right" and I believe this will eventually drive many caucasians back towards the center or left as they begin to understand the desires of the right to control or limit social freedoms.

For the same reason so many whites vote Democrat,...
For the same reason so many blacks vote Republican...
For the same reason so many blacks vote Democrat...
For the same reason so many asians vote Republican...
For the same reason so many whites vote Democrat...
...they're afriad that if they don't vote for the loser their party has nominated, a bigger loser (i.e. the nominee of the other RepubliCratic Party) will win.
In short, because plurality-voting in a non-parlimentary system invariable creates a duopoly.
