The producer is the person who oversees the whole movie, including dealing with the studio, getting financing for the movie, ensuring that the movie stays on budget, dealing with contracts, hiring the director, hiring other key members of the crew, etc.
The director is in charge of the actual creative aspects involed in making the movie, including working with the actors, working with the cinematographer to set up camera shots, overseeing the editing, etc.
In other words, the director handles the creative aspects of making the movie. The producer handles more of the business aspects from a higher level. The producer does this so that the director can focus on actually making the movie.
The producer is sort of the director's "boss". But some producers are more involved in the creative aspects than others. And some directors have enough power that they actually have more power than the producer.

The director is the head of the film staff, including the actors, cameramen, editors, and so on.
The producer is guy paying for the film. He's the director's boss. Usually, the director has the freedom to make the film according to his own vision, but in the end the producer has the final say.
Sometimes films has an "executive producer." This means somewhere there's another producer who's paying for everything, but this guy has been trusted with the producers' duties. Sometimes the director and the executive producer are the same person.

they are many times the comparable individual ie steven speilberg. yet a producer is in touch with a undertaking way till now the director. the producer reads a script and makes a decision it would be made right into a action picture (sometimes they wrote it themselves). The producer hires all of us, instruments up studio time, supplies economic backing and so on. The manufacturers hires the director who's the boss of all of us else certainly, they tell the actors, cinematographers, studio palms, stunt doubles and so on what to do and while to do it. if the producer and the director at the instant are not the comparable individual the director might properly be vetoed by using the producer.
