You shouldn't get a monkey as a pet. For one thing, by purchasing one, you are driving the illegal animal trade. Can you live with the fact that your pet's mother was probably killed right in front of it in order to catch the baby? and then that the baby was likely illegal smuggled?
If you don't care about that, and are only selfish, then consider for a moment how hard it will be for you to keep a monkey happy. It may seem cute while young, but they are not pets, and as they reach sexual maturity, they often become violent. Will you then do what most monkey owners do, and get rid of it?
Having a monkey for a pet is like saying, "Gee, I'd really like a 4-year old kid for a pet". The monkey requires care 24-7. You can't leave it alone, etc.
Get a domesticated animal for a pet---a dog, a cat, a hamster.
To have a monkey for a pet is cruel.

None-not made to be pets and you'd better check with the wildlife agency for in a lot of areas they are illegal to own with large fines imposed on those who own illegally also check city and county ordinances-may not be allowed for not classified as domestic pets-need license to have one. Monkeys cannot be toilet trained so they'll have to wear diapers and so on.Can't be taken to parks and so on for not domestic animal and also have a specialized diet and need a specialized vet for require inoculations. Monkeys also carry diseases that humans have no protection against-monkeys do not get sick for are carriers.
Its really cruel to get a monkey as a pet esp capuchin monkeys for they are very social animals and live in large groups with other capuchin monkeys.

Make sure you really, really think this through. Monkeys are wild animals. Even captive bred ones are only a generation or so removed from the wild. They have all their wild instincts and behaviors. Keep in mind they require large cages, extensive interaction, lots of toys and actvities to keep their minds busy. Housebreaking them is usually not possible and they will just remove a diaper once they get old enough. The females menstruate every month. Monkeys often throw fecal matter to express displeasure. When they reach sexual maturity they can become more aggressive. Their bites can be very serious. If this does not deter you please research this matter carefully and make sure you are really prepared!

NONE...monkeys are wild animals that are better off left in the wild. They are illegal in most states to own as pets without proper permits.. If you truely care about monkeys and other wildlife you would not want to have one cooped up in your house.
Most people that have pet monkeys abandon them shortly afterward because they did not realize what difficult pets they are to care for. Do lots of research before deciding on anything and talk to other monkey owners.

capuchin monkeys are the best. They can be trained to do stuff. They've even been trained in helping quadriplegics.

Monkeys are terrible pets. They bite, scream, poop everywhere and throw food. At least the one pet monkey I knew was like that.

Get a nice kitten. ;-)

Sock Monkeys. They do not bite, scratch, destroy the house, and throw all sorts of bodily functions at you.

There are reasons they are not legal pets in most areas!!!!!!!!!!

Personally monkeys are too wild and can be quite nasty. Good luck though.
