I am a conservative and live in CT. I am both morally and economically conservative. For conservatives, do you believe in and why? If you are a liberal, do not answer. I am not looking for a debate, just like-minded

1. Abortion is wrong
2. The Republican party has abandoned its principles
3. Way too much regulation
4. Affirmative Action is reverse discrimination
5. Rush Limbaugh is hysterically entertaining and almost always right.
6. We need to stay the course in Iraq
7. Global Warming is a farce. It is at best a theory
8. Cut taxes = more government treasury money
9. Private school vouchers
10. Allow voluntary private Social Security accounts
11. Build a wall on the Mexico border, go after employers who hire illegals and the illegals will leave if they have no work.
12. Environmental regulation has caused most of the high gas prices, along with high gas taxes.

If you have any other points to add, go for it. Please stay off name calling and partisan attacks.

Obviously some people cannot read. I am not looking for comments. I know what I stand for. After reading so many ignorant questions, I wanted to hear from some like minded people.

BTW, the idiot who called me a cracker, how do you know what my race is? I am 50% Peruvian knucklehead, but do not worry, you were reported.

Just to the Lieberman comment, I live in CT. There are more independents than Republicans or Democrats. The Republican candidate has no chance. Early polling has Joe around 50% and 6-8 point lead. Surprisingly, most Democrats in CT are not the leftie type.

To Jay S, this is what I am looking for. I am 100% behind the Fair Tax. Boortz is awesome. On abortiion, see the 10th Amendment "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people"

Your comment 5) Equality means equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.

Is worthy of comment on a Rush Limbaugh.

To answer the abortion question, when a mother's life is in danger that is one thing. When someone does not want a child, that is a different matter. Part of being an adult is to take responsibility for your actions. If you are old enough to have sex, then live with the consequences.

I'm with you. I've added some qualifiers to your list, and I'll include some comments I made in another post, at the bottom.

1. Yes, but the Federal Government should allow this to be decided State by State.
2. Not quite. The ones in office are trying to buy votes, rather than educate the voter and explain their principals.
3. Yes!!!
4. As implemented yes. There ARE better ways to do it.
5. Yes.
6. We need to adapt to the situation and achieve victory.
7. Global Warming is theory. Causation by man is a fairy tale.
8. Yes, to a point. The Fair Tax would be REAL reform.
9. Yes, the law should allow them.
10. Yes!
11. Yes!
12. Over-regulation has, yes. Let's be clear that we all want clean air and water.

I'm a Conservative first, and a Republican second. Right now, the Republican party is the one viable party that most closely reflects my values.

Those values are:
1) Individual rights, and individual responsibility.
2) Self-esteem cannot be given, it can only be earned through accomplishment.
3) The Constitution should be followed as written and amended.
4) No person has a 'Right" to place a claim on my property, or the fruits of my labor.
5) Equality means equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.
6) Free Market economies are fairer and work better than Command economies.
7) Wealth is not finite, and the economy is NOT a zero-sum game. Wealth is created whenever labor becomes fixed as a component in tangible goods.
8) National Defense is the first priority of government because without it, the nation will soon cease to exist.

I reject the notion that individuals should sacrifice for the good of the group. The group is an abstraction, an artificial construct based on whatever parameters the people in charge find convenient. Groups become strong as a result of the individuals within that group being strong, and individuals become strong only when there are incentives and rewards to do so. A certain amount of pragmatism is required, when you're dealing with instincts borne of 500 million years of evolution.

1. One of the few issues I don't really have an opinion on.
2. I think the party is just a bit more fragmented than it has been, so it is difficult to determine the principles of the parties core. This has only been compounded by the other side representing the Republican vanguard by it's fringe elements.
3. In general, yes.
4. Yes. Originally, it helped, however, it is no longer necessary.
5. Entertaining, yes. He is occasionally right, however, he tends to be a bit too extreme in his opinions.
6. Yes.
7. I think there is a definitive warming. The real question should be what impact humans contribute to the warming.
8. I prefer a lean government, so I support tax cuts in that regard.
9. I am attrached by the Darwinian free market aspect where it will foster competition and only the strongest survive. On the other hand, I don't like how it would be the government fitting the bill. We would have to ensure that government interaction ends there in it's involvement in Private schools.
10. Yes.
11. Unfortunately, I think a giant wall would not be worth the cost; I'm am up for alternative plans though. The illegals would still find 'under the table' work if we go after employers, so going after employers only guarantees legitimate work (not that that's a bad thing).
12. The raise in gas prices is due to the raise in world demand for oil. The high cost of gas is a global concern, so using a local scapegoat does not make sense. Sure, we could reduce the gas tax, but the amount that the price would be reduced is next to negligible and another tax would be raised to make up for it.

1. I believe abortion as birth control is wrong because the child should not pay for the parents mistake.
2. I vote Republican only because I do not want Democrats there. I agree more with the Libertarian Party than the Republican because I feel that the less government does, the better.
3. I agree that there is to much regulation. Regulation when it does obvious good is good, but to much regulation costs taxpayers to much money.
4. I agree with you. People should be judged by their talents and abilities, not their skin color. Furthermore, employers should be albe to hire who ever they want to if they own the business. It is their money they are risking.
5. I agree with you.
6. I definately agree with you. I believe that if we leave Iraq now, we may be speaking Arabic in 20-30 years.
7. I agree, it has not been proven. I believe we have to take care of the earth, but I think what we are trying to do with global warming, is the same thing as putting the virgin in the volcano to make it not erupt.
8. I agree to some extent. If you cut taxes too much we won't have a treasury. Cutting taxes some will allow people to invest the money in business which overall does a better job of using it more efficiently than the government.
9. Definately!! Public schools do not work because they do not have to work to have business. Make it competitive and you will have a much better school system.
10. Definately!! Let people control thier own money. Most everything that the government touches it screws up.
11. Yes. People coming into the country illegally should not be given the same rights as citizens. They are criminals!
12. I agree!!

I am generally in agreement.

But I don't believe that it is global warming that will kill us... just a build-up of Carbon Dioxide. Those levels are measurably increasing, so increased gas mileage helps in a number of areas.
- lowering the air pollution, which would more than satisfy environment regulations automatically
- lowering costs
- lowering dependence on foreign oil

By the way, our gas prices at $3 per gallon is NOT HIGH. A high price would be $9. Our free market is what sets the price, through Supply and Demand. So reduce the demand by conserving... then the price goes down. Its a math thing.

When it comes to conservation and our environment, it's not for us, it's for our children and grandchildren. So don't burn up our long term future.

But elections should not be based on single issues. The Democrats will soon learn that by kicking out Lieberman, they will have given up a valuable seat and ally in Washington. It is likely that Ned will BLOW it, and the Republican will get elected. This would be the first republican senator from CT for a very long time. Our gain, their loss.

I live in the Bluest state. I will give it a go.

1. I do not believe abortion is wrong. I believe the court decision Roe V. Wade is wrong. Abortion itself is not really talked about in terms of morality because of how polarizing it is.

2. I would not say it has completely. There are some things that it has supposedly gotten away from like immigration; but Reagan gave out the biggest amnesty of all time. The only thing i find wavering is its support for Israel.

3. Regulationis a symptom, not a problem. Regulation happens because of how litigious our society has beome.

4. AC is a foolish plan that has never helped minorities, but white women..

5. Rush is funny, but i don't like the fact that he does not have people that disagree with him on his show. I prefer Michael Medved for my political talk radio.

6. We need a different direction. We need to stop worrying about the new governement and do what it takes to kill terrorists.

7. Liberals like global warming because it will take 500 years to prove them wrong.

8. Flat tax, abort the IRS.

9. Competition is good.

10. It's called save your own money.

11. We need to hurt Mexico in anyway we can until they turnover cop killers facing capital punishment in the U.S.

12. Enviromental regulations are needed in some situations, but should be balanced against the public good.

I hope this helps. I am more of a pure conservative than most, so you would find i disagree with some of the conventional thinking.

Cheers, Scott

I agree with some, but not all of your points. I don't think abortion should be a federal issue....I also don't listen to Rush. To back out of Iraq would make the US lose even more credibility, but I don't think the Democrats see this.....it took many years after Vietnam for the US to get some of the credibility back. Border fence along mexico I think is a great idea, but will never happen. Gas prices are due to the fact that the US oil companies are so small compared to the state owned oil companies in the Middle East and they have to compete with the China's and India's for the same oil....therefore demand is up and price is up.

I strongly believe that SSI needs to be an opt in or opt out after you are fully vested in which is about 10 years of working. I don't think the gov't should make you pay for THEIR retirement program...I'll take my own any day.

Private school vouchers are a scam and benefit nobody...if parents took more of an active role in their kids life schools would be better.

I don't believe their is enough evidence of global warming as most of the data is unreliable at best.

Affirmative action doesn't affect me, so I really don't care, but I think it has been around long enough that it can be evaluated to see if it is working.

just my 2 cents.

15. Hypocrisy and repeated scandals are hurting the Republican party
16. Even William Buckley and George Will aren't keen on George W. Bush's war or economic policies

You pretty much got it but im not so sure about the border wall, more people down their will do the trick just fine, and high gas prices are from the greedy gas company's.

Good going with the affirmative action comment.
