OMG at the women answering yes to this question. I have been in the maintenance field for 22 years. 80% of all toilet and sewer line back-ups are caused by tampons. Ladies, Please wrap and toss in trash, Dont be mislead

Contrary to popular belief, they are NOT safe to flush down a drain. They clog up drains and it is embarrassing to tell women this and it is embarrassing for the women to hear it. They will expand inside the pipes from soaking water. Don't do it! A regular plunger won't do the trick after a few of those submarines expand and clog a drain... a plumber is often called and well... I think you get the hint.

Think about this; whatever you flush that you have not eaten has to get manually sorted at the waste treatment plant by a city worker, then all this stuff (tampons, condoms, pads, q-tips matchbox cars...............) then this soggy mess gets carted off to a trash dump.
Cut out the middleman and toss this stuff in the trash....Save a Pipe.

No. I have been in the plumbing business for 10 years and that is not a good practice. The plastic gets caught and the material swells up and impedes the normal, (gravity) flow to the sewer system. Even worse in apartment buildings where collection drains accomodate multiple dwellings. Your basic trashcan or dumpster is the way to go.

Yep! As long as you don't live in a place with really old plumbing (from waaaaay back when the pipes were very narrow). And that doesn't happen in the US that I've heard of.

I do not think it is good to flush them no matter what the box or anyone says! It is just as easy to wrap them in toilet paper and throw them in the trash (if you have dogs... throw them in the trash outside!!)

It is not recommended but you can buy the type that are flushable and dissolve in the water.

as long as you are on the city lines, yes, some septic systems won't accept them very well, though
