OOoOohhh... Is that Johnny Depp as the glorious Sir John Wilmot I see there on your avatar? LOVELY!
The last time I was brought back in time by a smell was when I saw forcynthia and Lilac bushes in a local nursery. I didn't think they grew here in this climate and I hadn't seen them since I was very little.
My mother used to take long walks with me when I was a kid (it was us two girls against 6 boys in the house) so we used to walk for what seemed like hours and I don't really remember much about what we talked about but Lilacs and forcynthia remind me of my mom... Less all the stink and chaos of men!

That happens quite alot and usually the rememberance is so fleeting it's hard to grasp but today, the smell of mint flavoured peas sent me back 50 years (OMG) to when I was a kid in hospital and first tasted them; I have hated them ever since but hubby loves em so I flavour some peas for him once or twice a year, well can't give him too much of a good thing LOL.

Good question! Actuall the other day i was raking chesnuts in my aunts back yard, and the smell when you crack them from the shell reminds me of when i was a little girl and i used to climb trees in my great grandmas backyard. Its funny how a smell can take you back in time for a moment!

Someone walked past me recently who was wearing my deceased mother's favorite perfume, Shalimar. The scent brought me back to my childhood when she always wore it on Sundays to church. Funny... I still hate the smell of it, but she loved it.

Couple months ago. Tuna fish sandwich and diesel smoke at a truckstop.....took me back to my youth on a crab-fishing boat. Almost puked again, and I haven't been commercial crab fishing in like 20 years.

It happens to me all of the time. I don't know if I have an extra sensitive olfactory or if I am just ultra sensitive, but it happens to me all of the time.
Great Question!

I was baking some apples and time I put the cinnamon on it, I remembered my grandma cooking apple pies. What a memory and thanks for making me remember it again.
It was a long time ago, about 40 years. WOW
