Do you mean that racism is built into a whole society's system of doing things? yes. The social and economic system of the Old South was built on racism. When Jamestown was first settled it was decided to use a slave system of labor and have plantations,, and that the slaves would be both Africans and Native Americans. We don't hear or talk so much about the slavery of Amercian Indians because it didn't work out so well. the Indians had the advantage of knowing the land, where the Africans were like fish out of water.
The North had a different system, more self-sufficient.
Now,, a system can change, not easily because there are many more levels and the changes have to be broader than for racism from an individual. In the 1960's there was great effort by many people on many levels to change the system in the South,, Martin Luther King, Jr, headed up the Black community,, John F Kennedy headed up the federal government, many supporters came from religious communities. There was a lot of resistance to changing the system, but changes have been made.

Yes. Racist reasoning can be used systematically. Many people can have a tremendous impact on one person. If an individual accepts racism as something good, then perhaps that person will come to see a good with time. Although racism is known to kill using the racist (murder), and also, (suicide) the victim of the racist behavior. Much of adult life concerns learning to just move if you don't like the way your being affected. Yes, I believe systematic racism can be used to control the unfortunates.

New Orleans and Katrina yesterday and today stark racism at its worst! see in todays news, how the government even does not care about black people. An ugly message to send to the rest of the world. They cant hide things like this today. People the world over have access to instant news and televised broadcasts.

You cant sell democracy abroad when they see that it doesn't work in our own country. They see the hypocrisy and reject "democracy" as a viable choice for them. Most of the world is not lily white.

Of course systemic racism exists...just read the literature about the aftermath of the Katrina disaster, and by "disaster" I mean the government response to the hurricane.

Systemic racism is just another piece of sociological gobbledygook. Tell people certain things exist and they'll believe anything.

It depends. Usually no, but the hispanics in texas who are illegal are getting free health care and in state tuition as well as free p-k for their kids. Military cant get free p-k unless their kids speak spanish. Military cant get in state tuition unless they lived in texas for a year. If they were in Iraq then they lost it. I have writen senators and congress people. Its been in the media. The politicians are not listening. When I pay my taxes and the government lets them get a free ride, I think we have to use racism to get them out of our city to lower the tax burden and better our schools. If a hispanic is here legally, then no problem. I was just sickened how our county hospital kicked the black Katrina victims to the curb after 6 mths yet illegals get a free ride.

I suppose everyone has some kind of prejudice against another. I mean, many families still believe marrying within their own race. but lots of people are open to others too...

No, because everyone's attitude to other races depends on what race they are themselves. I remember an African I knew being upset because some other Africans he met refused to have to do with him because he was too black!
