For the next 20 questions or so I am just going to whole heartedly agree with the opinion expressed by the asker (regardless of what I actually think) instead of my usual truthful and sometimes sarcastic way of answering.
Do you think that on those 20 questions I will get more best answers then my current avereage (27%)?

I'm sure that the possibility exists that you could surpass your average. Yet, there are variables which could invite failure: 1) Question criteria 2)Number of answers 3)Answer content 4) Non-authentic answer.
I think that your adopted style of answering has a much larger appeal. The content of your answers also has much more latitude when you answer on the basis of honesty. Improvisation, I would think, becomes more difficult when you detach yourself from your passion. Good luck with your experiment.

It may work, but only on questions where the asker chooses the best answer. Usually with the answers that are voted on, the truly best answer is chosen instead of the one that agrees with the asker (unless that opinion is the opinion of the majority). Therefore, 20 questions may not be enough to get a good idea whether this will work or not. The best thing to do for this experiment would be to use two different brand new profiles and answer 100 questions each. Use one for a control (and answer questions in your usual fashion) and the other as the experimental answerer. To know if your experiment really works, you really need a control group of answers.

Yes, you are 100% right. That should get you far more best answers that way. :-)

Seriously, I am afraid that you might be correct in certain places. Where the question is highly opinionated, I think that the asker is simply seeking validation of what they already believe, which is why I usually don't expect lots of best answers in the Religion and Spirituality category (because there I almost never agree with anyone!). However, where the question is asking for a real answer, just providing the best analysis is what I expect for best answer consideration.

But then, what to I know? I'm only at 25% average, so you must be doing something better than me already.

27% is quite honorable. I keep answering questions and keep my percentages down. I am not a point player per se, but I do have my pride! I understand your frustration in Answers. I sometimes feel duped by the asker.

Apparently they are not seeking a different perspective; but rather a confirmatory reply to bolster their existing beliefs. I find this very disheartening...especially when I put a lot of time, thought, and effort into my answers. Then I get to witness an obvious and somewhat inadequate answer chosen as "Best."

At least your question served as an introduction...and perhaps it will generate a degree of familiarity...who knows? It's worth a try.

No, disagree with them whole heartedly....but in an unexpected way with many big words to addle their little brains. If you can make them smile a little bit (even if they really don't get what they are smiling at) even better. That will get you the votes you are looking for.

I'm at 31% and would have a higher percent if I could stop answering the stupid questions and focus on the high quality 'intelligent' ones that aren't anything like this one. ; ) Although it is just a number really, I'm not getting anything from this other than perfecting my dislike of those that think chatspeak is acceptable english.

Alright I'm off to hunt down more "LYKE OMG!!!1!@! I sooooo love mah avatar!!!" questions. They make me feel better about my level of intelligence and worse about the fate of the children these people will one day have.

You have an impressive average, but my guess is that if you give an answer that is against your true opinion, your answer might ring false to the asker. That may prove to be your downfall.

If you carefully select your next twenty questions so that you agree with the opinion of the asker, you will have no problem agreeing and your answers will ring true. Maybe then your average for those twenty questions will be higher than 27%.

I think to find the best answer to any question is to explore different perspectives and from experience.
If you could apply your basic knowledge and a little research using different modes of information gathering like reading books, asking other opinions or using the internet. Then you draw from your information to come with your conclusive ideas and apply them.
Just remember the key to find a good answer is keep a open mind and don't neglect a piece of evidence because it does not agree with you know opinion.
When all falls use your gut feeling and answer with honesty.

I think it depends on what kind of question you are answering. When I ask questions I try not to give my own opinion because I want to know what others think. But I do see a lot of people ranting here and just want confirmation that their complaining is justified. I agree that if you compliment the asker, they are more likely to pick you. It just depends on what you want out of this do you want more points or do you want to share knowledge. It's up to you. Good luck.

Please don't answer my questions that way. Unless it's this one: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnEd2DG_tbCRX0LJJzoPfk3sy6IX?qid=20060822004708AAQicR3

I prefer to meet people who think for themselves, and express their actual feelings on a subject, whether they agree with me or not.

But then again, I rarely ask a serious question.
