I am currently at school on the east coast but my cell phone area code is an Arizona area code. According to the website, night time minutes start at 9 pm local standard time. Do they go based off of the location I am calling from or the area code that the phone is registered to?

It's based on the area code...at least with cingular. It's cool that yours sounds "local" to your area.

When I was hired in 1988, we had people in their 50's in our training classes. They were actually really great coworkers. They had maturity and keep their cool. Most were career-changers, experienced in a related field so had the enthusiasm of someone new with the knowedge of someone older, without the burnout or immaturity of either. One coworker got her mom into it. Another F/A talked her husband into joining her after retirement. One woman's husband ran off with his secretary and the 50ish mom of 5 adult children got the job and travelled around the world. All were extremely popular out on the line and many not only recieved praise from customers but were also tapped to do special assignments and training. Flight Attendants of all ages still have to meet certain appearance guidelines, which means looking presentable, not necessarily like a runway model. Contrary to popular belief, the flying public feel more at ease with at least some of the crew at a more mature age. Most F/A newhires are younger but being a bit older can be a big plus for many reasons. Even if you feel like the Big Brother during training, don't be put off. Once on the line, you'll fly with people of all different ages and you'll see how little it matters. So go for it!

The location you are calling from. That's why it's called local time. It means the time zone you are in.
