Well it depends cause regular cable you share with your local neighborhood and it can reach slower speeds than DSL if more ppl get on it. But DSL on the otherhand, constanly maintains the same speed as it is a direct line to your house directly from the company. However if you get, "Fiber to the prime," then, its the best and fastest commercial internet around! Fiber to the prime is lingo for sayin' that its fiber optic cable internet dedicated to only your house straight from the local phone company office as where some internet servers can be stored. But overall for me, I prefer DSL or fiber to the prime cause i dont like my internet speed to change.

All depends on the level of service you have where you live. Your cable provider might not have great service if they're not big like Cox, Comcast, or Time Warner. Who is available in your area? Do they provide higher download and upload speeds than your DSL provider? What other services do they offer that might be a benefit to switch to Cable?

Yes, you will probably find that your cable company provides faster high speed internet service. So GO FOR IT.

I first switched from DSL to cable about 2 years ago, then I bought Vonage, and transferred my phone to that. I am thrilled.

By the way, I also take my Vonage adapter with me on vacation. This year, I spend two weeks in Boston, and last year I spent two weeks in Hong Kong. It was way cool to have my home phone ring while I was away.

I have the DSL lite and it is much faster than the cable connection I had. Plus my cable always went out and I would have no TV or computer. Now I do not even pay as much.

A lot of my co-workers in the IS department swear by Cable, but personally, I'm set up with DSL & I love it. It meets my needs very well.

cable modems are much faster and sophisticated they are mainly faster cable modems go to the cable tv cable and gets slow if too many people are on line with the same internet service provider and with dsl you can only be fast if you are close to the dsl network.

Cable modem is the way to go.Fastest way at the moment. I got my cable modem for the same reason you are discussing and am very happy with the choice. It's really not that expensive either. Good luck. Go for it.
