i'm an artist in the chicago area, looking to become a tattoo artist, is there anyone in the chicago area, that would take me on as an aprentice? toblessed1@sbcglobal.net

The best way to find a mentor is by going to some great tatoo shops with your resume. Meet with the management, and ask them if anyone is willing to take on an apprentice, or if they need a general helper around the shop. This is to get your foot in the door. Make it known that you are willing to stop by and just help clean up the shop, or work at the desk, even on an intern basis. This shows dedication, commitment and drive.

Once you're in, while you are working for them you will eventually develop relationships with the staff and this often leads to an apprenticeship.

Good luck! Remember, getting what you want is all about persistence. Just go out and knock on doors until they let you in.
