I'm a professional guitarist. I make my living at teaching and performing on the guitar. I have had many, many students start at the beginning level at ages of 40 and above. There is only one limit on age for a beginner, and that is arthritis in the hands. If you have arthritis, it will be very hard to learn any instrument that is finger intensive.
Other than that, I've current got a 69 year old beginner and a 50 year old beginner who just started.

Please don't doubt yourself. Learn, practice, listen to beautiful guitar music to get more inspired. Make your fingers strong. Nobody should stop you from learning anything new, even if you are 80 years old.
