Improving gas mileage only works if the newly acquired savings exceeds the cost of the savings method. One sure way to achieve "money in your pocket" savings is by adding Ethos FR to your gas tank and crank case. This super lubricant coats the metal parts to minimize friction. Based on the cost of the fuel reformulator you will need to have an increased mileage of at least 4 %. Ethos FR testing shows typical increases of 7 % to 19 %. If your current mileage was 16 MPG, an increase of 10% would move you up to only 17.6 MPG. That would save the average driver about $150.00 per year even after the cost of the fuel reformulator. See more at Ethos FR's site shown below. I have had fantastic results. The car runs better. The mileage is great!

It's difficult - not necessarily impossible, but rather difficult - to outsmart the engineers who designed your car when it comes to adding gas mileage tricks. So normally it does not pay to try modifying the car to improve mileage unless you have a car that's around 20 years old and you can install technology from newer cars on it. The one exception is weight reduction - in addition to leaving behind any things you haul around that you don't need, you can replace steel parts on your car with ones made from aluminum or fiberglass.

There's a lot of swindlers out there selling worthless garbage that they claim will improve mileage but won't do anything - or worse, cause trouble. Popular Mechanics actually had one device that was supposed to improve mileage catch on fire when they tested it. Normally, you shouldn't try modifying much about the car besides its weight.

Two things you can do, however, are good maintenance and good driving habbits. Keep the car maintained with good quality parts and fluids, plan your trips well, and avoid pedal to the metal driving. When it comes to maintenance, tires and oil are probably the two most important things - underinflated tires and running oil that's thicker than your engine needs are two proven mileage killers.

My husband found a gas station that sells super unleaded for the same price as unleaded and he swears it makes for better gas mileage...

I try to not run the a/c and I don't speed... I also will be more likely to coast when I see that I have to stop up ahead....

I drive a 5 speed Cavalier and I get great gas mileage anyway, but every little bit helps.

Don't drive an SUV or truck! You can also try keeping the gas tank above 1/2 a tank. I recently moved 2,000 miles cross country and kept my car above half a tank and only spent about $200 on gas. Not bad at all!

tire air pressure is one that's easy. Check your oil, water, tune up the car timing ,plugs, and buy the better gas it cost more but your gas mileage goes longer per gallon

The quickest way is to not drive when you don't have to. The next is to drive slower. Air resistance increases as an exponential function of speed. (cubed, I think)
Put the best synthetic oil in the engine and transmission. (www.amsoil.com) That will get up to 1mpg better for you.
Keep your speed steady, don't take off fast from stops, let your car coast to stops longer, don't jam on the brakes.

depends on what you drive and how much you want to spend.Change spark plugs to a platnum brand.change your oil to a synthetic oil check tire pressue.
Synthetic oil change every 6000 miles rotate tires every 6 also.
regular oil every 3000 miles reg air filter every 3000 miles and also fuel filter every 6000 miles.
first get a K&N air filter system or Air Raid and then you can change you gas to a beeter one like Cheveron. Change your fuel filter.
you can go into it further and change your Exhaust system to a flow master. You can also go Extreme and get the computer system that you can adjust all your componets and get the max out of everything.

Keep your car tuned, keep tires properly inflated and slow down. If you have air conditioning use it and keep your windows rolled up. Windows down creates wind drag. Don't jackrabbit start at the corners.
