They are from an inch in diameter to a millimeter. I live in Central Illinois. I can't find any thing like them on the net. Everyone calls them indian beads. They are different lengths and colors. All have a hole in the center.

I grew up finding Indian beads in the yard and creek bed (in central Illinois - near Effingham :) They are supposedly pieces of fossilized plants -like the stems. I still look when I'm home and in southern Illinois or Tennessee....happy hunting!
