not allowing you to order child menu because you are an adult?
The adult menu has too much food for my stomach to handle.

order off the regular menu. when your food comes, ask for a box to put half of what you ordered away. that leaves you with just the right amount of food, leftovers (yum!) and will actually keep you from over eating. a lot of restaurants aren't trying to be mean, they're just running a business.

I've had friends who have had no trouble ordering from the children's menu. Restaurants should understand that not everyone can handle their huge portion sizes. If they won't allow people to order from the kiddie menu, then they should accommodate adults with a small portions menu. I agree with about the too much food for my stomach to handle situation 100%.

Several people I know have had the weight reducing surgery on their stomach and no longer can eat normal portions. They have gotten a letter from there docs, had presented it to the management of local restaurants and have gotten the ok to order from the kids menu....Try that it may work for you as well

I'm serious: If it makes you very angry go into a fast food place alone and order a kid's meal. Almost any fast food place would let you order from the child's menu and you even get a toy for free*

Where I work, you can order from the kid's menu, but we charge extra since we have really cheap kids meals. Also, most every restaurant will let you order items al a carte, you just have to ask.

why cant you order from the child menu? because the restaurant would lose money, and that is the bottom line in the food service industry

I think a lot of restaurants have a children's menu as a courtesy. I don't think children's menu items are likely to be profitable. Restaurants are a business and need to make money. I don't think it's "mean" of them to restrict child items to children. It's just business.

I've never tried to order from the children's menu...but I agree they should let you. Your next choice would be to order an appetizer....the portions are smaller and that should work for you.

Other good options are to check out the appetizer list or 'sides'. If you put them together right, you'll probably come up with just the right portions.
