This word, 'Procrastinating' is so common & widely used term.

I heard it in the aphorism / saying:

'Procrastination is the thief of Time!' & understood that the word meant just , delaying' from the context.

Procrastinating' is delaying doing something you should do, usually because you don't want to do.

There are expressions which mean delaying such as 'utting off', 'shelving'.

Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, is famous for his procrastination & he proved to be a Tragic Hero. (Shakespeare's Drama, 'Hamlet')

Monday you're class gets a big assignment that's due on Friday. You know when you get home you should start working on it but.... you're favorite TV show is coming on and then later you're too busy chillin with your friends.

On Tuesday you find yourself at home totally bored with absolutely nothing to do... You're assignment comes to mind but then you see the computer and that looks much more interesting so you decide that you'll just go on-line and chat instead. After all it's only Tuesday.. you still have plenty of time to do it.

On Wednesday and most of Thursday you're still goofing off and NOW to you're surprise it's 10pm and you realize you're assignment is due in the morning and you hadn't even started it yet!! (OH THE HORRAH!! How did Friday creep up on you so soon?....). You end up pulling an all nighter to get that dang thing finished... (sheeesh why don't teachers ever give you enough time to finish these stupid things!?)

Okay, if you didn't get it from your first couple of answers which I thought were really funny, it's to say you will do something then put it off as long as you can. You still plan to do it, you just can't seem to get around to it.
