If your question is, "Why does the United States support Israel as opposed to Palestinians?", the answer is very simple: Israel is not in the habit of sending suicide bombers into Palestinian territory for the purpose of blowing up innocent women and children. Israel has not adopted an official policy of trying to drive Palestinians into the sea. Israel has kept the peace agreements that it has made, while the Palestinians have not. This is NOT rocket science.

The USA hasnt "always" taken Israel's side in the Middle East, a good example was when Israel attacked the Suez Canal and the USA condemned the attack.

As far as why the USA suports Israel, in general:

1) Cultural similarities. A significant portion of the current Israeli population originated in the West (i.e. a number of American and European Jews left their native countries and settled in Israel) and they still retained the characteristics of their homelands. Lots of Israelis speak English or other European languages and they also share things like clothing styles, musical tastes, choices of food, the kinds of magazines they read, etc.

2) Government. Israel is a democracy and her enemies are dictatorship governments or terrorist groups. While Israel has been the target of accusations of police brutality and governemt actions which the UN and Amnesty International have condemned, these actions pale in comparison to the general bahavoir of its enemies. You have freedom of the press in Israel, but not in the Arab states which have made war upon it, for example. While Israel's police and military have committed acts which can be considered cruel and repressive, the terrorist groups which have attacked Israel, and Jews around the world, have made it a regular practice to attack civilians. Hijacking airliners and ships, machine gunning civialians at airports, bombing buses and market places, etc. does not make the West feel sympathy with the terrorists. It creates sympathy for the people being targetted, meaning Israel and the Jewish people.

3) While Europe has a long history of persecuting Jews, the United States does not. In fact, George Washington made early overtures to the Jewish community in the colonies to gain their personal and financial support for the Revolution and for the United States government which was founded on the principle of religious freedom for all.

The USA supports Israel for these and other reasons. If the Arab states were more democratic and less tyrannical, the issue would not be as cut-and-dry. If the terrorist groups did not make it a regular practise to attack civilians - including men, women, children and the elderly - perhaps Americans would be more sympathetic.

There are several reason why many people in America defend Israel. One, because the majority of the people in the US believe the Christian religion. The Bible says in the Old Testament that people who help the descendants or Abraham (the Jewish people) will be blessed and those who hurt the them will be cursed. I know that many ways to interpret what the Bible is saying, but I believe many of the people look at it the way I stated.

Second, Israel is the more of a Western Country than all the other countries in the Middle East. Many of the people who founded Israel were Jews from European descent.

Third, the people in many of the other Middle Eastern countries hate America very much. The majority of the people in Israel, as far as I know, do not hate American so much. When we support Israel we are supporting a country that does not hate us.

I personally support Israel because I want the crazy Muslim people who think that the whole world needs to be a Muslim State killed. Israel seems to be one of the only countries who is not afraid to do some damage to the crazy people. Everyone else wants to talk and try to pretend that there are not a bunch of people who think that "God" wants us dead.

America doesn't always side with Israel. We forced Israel to retreat during the Suez War in 1956. Britain and France encouraged Israel to attack after Nasser nationialized the Suez Canal. More serious after the Egyptians massacred the Israeli soldiers on the Bar Lev Line in the Yom Kipper War.in 1973 the U.S. forced the Israelis to let the Egyptian army escape. The Israelis had the Egyptians surrounded. This was unprecedented
in war. We also give billions of military aid to Arab nations that are friendly to us.

Don't judge everyone just because we are American. There are plenty of other Americans who feel just the way I do about the matter.
