Because everything you eat and drink goes to your baby through the umbilical cord. And alcohol kills brain cells and brain cells are NOT replaceable. It's not like skin that regrows new layers. You lose brain cells, you don't get no more. You want to kill the brain cells of your child before he's even developed enough to live outside your body? It's just like taking drugs while pregnant. Alcohol is just a different kind of drug. It's a legal one.

The best place to get a straight non-hostile answer is your doctor. But the main reason you shouldn't drink is because of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It can be caused by as little as one night of drinking. Basically it can leave your child with permanent learning disabilitys. Some are more drastic than others. Most doctors recommend that you just avoid alcohol all together since there is no set safe amount that you can drink and not hamr the child. Best idea is to just wait until after the baby is born to have a cocktail. If you want something to celebrate with there are non-alcoholic sparkilg wine. They taste pretty good and you can avoid the risk of alcohol without skipping the celebration. Good luck.

Would you give a developing fetus alcohol? How about a newborn? The feelings you get thinking about that is why you don't do it!

Um...the alcohol level in your blood system flows to your baby. If you are drunk, your baby is drunk. It's not for your protection. It's for the protection of your baby. Do you get it now?
