Have you already had at least one pregnancy? Otherwise, an IUD isn't recommended.
I had one for a few years. The first one came out and had to be reinserted!!
I had much heavier periods when I had an IUD, which was the down side. Otherwise, after the second one was inserted, I didn't have any other problems. I found it was pretty much worry free. And you don't ever have to worry about remembering it.
These links give quite a bit of information. I hope this is helpful.

Hello
I personally would not recommend a Copper IUD.
My experience was not a pleasant one.
First of all I had heaver monthly, painful Cramps
And then my IUD was lost in my uterus walls and I. Ended up have a Scraping.
However as far as pregnancy goes it work, but oh so much discomfort.
Talk to your Doctor and see what other option may be safer and more comfortable.
This note is not to discourage you, but I think there is a much better contraception.
Sincerely A New Day

No.. it particularly is definitely secure and that i've got seen females on those instruments for as much as 5 years behaving regularly. it keeps to be interior the uterine hollow area and there is not any way that it particularly is felt by using your significant different and does not reason any discomfort. as quickly as put in it desires to be checked by using the well being practitioner regularly or month-to-month for first few months and the ever couple of months. in spite of the shown fact that there are some drawbacks... a million. it could get displaced the two out section or not often into the peritoneal hollow area..in spite of the shown fact that it somewhat is amazingly very uncommon. 2.the female can adventure reasonable low back discomfort at times and it particularly is amazingly mild and uncommon believed to be psychological 3.Occasional heavy sessions for first few cycles, which subside after wards, 4. being pregnant has been reported even after the IUCD became in place.. properly it somewhat is often happening with all varieties of contraceptive instruments. the suitable choose for determination of a contraceptive degree is your well being practitioner, so save on along with his suggestion. in case you pick extra basically ask...yet for you it particularly is sufficient.

My daughter had one put in when she was first married, because she didn't tolerate the pill well. After she first had it put in, she bled a lot. But soon, it was fine, and she really liked it for several years. Then she started to bleed heavy again (after having it for about 4 years) and she had to have it removed. But it was easy to get it removed. She's back on the pill again.

After I had a baby, I had one for years and I loved it. No probs at all! You need to check that it is in place by inserting a finger in your vagina after your period every month. The biggest danger is that you would expell it and get pregnant or it could go into your uterus and need to be removed...If you have had a kid you are more likely to be able to retain it.
