I took a class called Conservatism 101. This is what they teach about conservatism. Do you think they're right

1. You must believe that the nations current 8-year prosperity was due to the work of Reagan and Bush, but yesterday's gas prices are all Clinton's fault
2. You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own.
3. You have to be against all Government programs, but expect Social Security checks on time.
4. You have to believe that AIDS victims deserve their disease, but smokers with lung cancer and overweight people with heart disease don't deserve theirs.
5. You have to believe everything Rush Limbaugh says even when he's on dope.
6. You have to believe that god hates homosexuality, but loves the death penelty
7. You have to be against government interference in business, until your oil company, or Savings and Loan is about to go broke and you beg for a government bail out.
8. You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to Allah or Buddha

They are right, right wing. These people can not accept change. If it didn't work for Jesus then it doesn't exist. They are never wrong and you are never right. They only thing they get right is breeding and they often do that with the wrong people. All of your must's and have's are exaggerations and can be twisted to fit socialism 101. Just believe what you can live with and let the other person get on with making his/er own mistakes.

I am a conservative and this is a load of crap. My responses

1. The US's current prosperity is due to a rebound from 9-11. I live in the NY suburbs and know how bad it was. The way to get economic growth is to cut taxes and regulation. Pres Bush 2 did this. Pres Reagan and Pres Bush 1 have nothing to do with today.

2. This is bull. Success is earned and has nothing to do with birth. America is the land of opportunity. You earnings are based upon fulfilling another's needs.

3. Against most government programs yes. Conservatives believe that people are responsible for their own problems. Giving things to people only creates a dependency state. Free markets rule because their is incentive called profit. Anytime a government touches something it costs a lot more and you get less results.

4. Another load of crap. If you do risky behaviors, do not act surprised when you have problems. Your communist professor believes that conservatives hate the poor and downtrodden.

5. I do not believe everything Rush Limbaugh says. He was not on dope, he became addicted to oxycotton, a highly addictive pain killer. Cheap shots like this are typical of liberals.

6. Not all Conervatives are literal Christians.

7. Not all government regulation is bad. Most is.

8. I believe in voluntary prayer in schools because it is free speech. Those who do not want to participate do not have to.

I bet the communist professor you had has never spent time with a true conservative. I would file a complaint of academic fraud against the professor.

This is what they're teaching in college? See, most college professors are liberals. Most of them are ultra liberals. So this class was probably put together by liberals and taught by liberals who know nothing about conservatives but that they are vile and need to be destroyed. My brother who has been a conservative since he had a clue as to what politics was majored in Political Science. He had to go to the chairman of the department on more than one occasion because a liberal who disagreed with his views failed him on a paper even though it was well written. The chair had to explain the they could disagree with my brother but not fail him because of it. One professor couldn't understand how he could be a conservative because he was so bright. All of what you were taught is distortions from people who despise conservatives and who wouldn't even think to allow a liberal class to be taught the same way.
