Our institutions have failed to produce objective journalists, we only get editorial and left wing propaganda (google PEW research on subject).

This is not a conspiracy, its just that "idealogues" are attracted to Jounalism as a major because they want to shape public perception. More pragamtic types go to engineering or medicine.

However, since we simply cannot get any objective journalists to read news to the mainstream audience, shouldnt we strip away this facade of integrity?

All we need to produce this simpletons is a communications tech school. We definely dont need to spend anywhere near the federal funds.

If I could design a curriculum, I would require science and heavy logical/critical thinking skills in addition. In fact, I would require a test to get a license and the test would be pure logic. I guarentee a death to simplistic "war for oil" platitudes under my system.

The news is rewritten from the wire services -- associated press and reuters.

If your system were put into effect, there would be no more journalists. Journalists are not supposed to present logical analysis. Journalists are only supposed to select facts to give a "sense" of current events in an entertaining and informative format.

It would be great if the general public were taught skills in logic and critical thinking. Here are some links that might help:

You concerns are noted and should be. But the problem will arise with such testing that then one would find that the very freedom to write and speak out will then be a measuring gage for all of us. I certainly don't think it would work anyways.

The news media has been liberal for a long time/ and they do carry the word of propaganda because why.....it sells. Should we stop reading it, stop watching it it would cease to be such a part of our lives. However, as one can see in every part of the world the TV, the written word and the technology of today is the tool to get the masses moving in a direction that will allow those that want to change the world in their own imagine. Seems to be working greatly.

I think first of all and foremost, contrary to what most people would believe today is that when we are in a military action we do not allow the news to come in or go out. Only that which we want. As did FDR, JFK and others did in the past.

We live in new times, with old hatreds and fears.

Very good point your making there because most journalist have a political view anyway either be left, center or right wing views. I don't believe it when so called journalist say we just report, and don't give a personal view that is lies. All journalist have a view. Let me honest here when a journalist want to publisher huge story it the editor who decides what to cut out and keep in. Again we come back to the political views again.

Were Woodward and Bernstein "propagandist"? Without these Journalists, Nixon would have continued his illegal wiretaps and Watergate would have never made the news.

Lots of valuable lessons were learned from Watergate.

Why do people use the terms liberal and conserative as if they are derogitory slurs? I understand that there are some liberal extremists and conservative extremists out there who do their best to misinform the public and steamroll their misguided beliefs on the masses but you have tro admit that it occurs on both sides - not just the left wing or the right wing extremists.

Why don't we see these things in the evening news, and if we heard them repeated weekly as they are in the Semite nations (Middle East) would they continue to give us the same old moral equivalence BS?

I've linked many videos of their most popular political and religious leaders giving hate speeches and their TV running propaganda like music videos glorifying jihadis.

It should be a separate word. But as America becomes more and more illiterate we no longer need words with more than 4 letters.

Shakespeare reportedly invented more than 8000 words. Well you know where those went.

objective journalist, is that an oxymoron? Look at the liberals whine just because one news organization happens to be right-wing.

It's too bad that real journalists, who take dangerous risks to get the truth, are marginalized.

IT'S CAPITALISM... IF YOUR IDEA IS A TENTH AS GREAT AS YOU THINK IT IS... YOU'LL BE A MEDIA MOGUL...

in reality... it would read like a dictionary and no one wants to read a dictionary...

and you base YOUR ENTIRE OPINION OF THE NEWS ON ONE SOURCE? YEAH... YOU SHOULD BE TEACHING JOURNALISM... SURE...

John Skerry: are you blind? your cites tear up your own arguement? if they were a TENTH AS BIAS as you say they were they WOULD NEVER EVEN RUN ANY RETRACTIONS... whatever?
