Too soon to tell, but it will be fun watching him try. This season will be a big test for him, because they will lack the balanced attack that they have had in years past. If the Colts are successful this year, it will be in large part to Peyton Manning. Good question, but your timing is off. Ask it again in January.

No way even close at this point. Peyton has the reputation of being a "choker". This may not be totally deserved, but right now he has not performed well in post-season. Peyton is not even close to being the QB John Elway was for example. Here was a man who played his best in the clutch, instead of finding ways to lose and then blaming your O-Line for the loss. Peyton is an excellent thrower who is very immobile. You can't argue with his stats, and he is no doubt one of the best playing right now. But who would you like running your team if you are 14 points behind the the fourth quarter, Peyton or Tom Brady?

Peyton Manning will probably end up being a first-ballot Hall of Fame QB, but I agree with the prevailing answers here ...he is not close - at least yet - to being the greatest of all-time. Now, Peyton can take a run at that mythical status over the remainder of his career.

Right now, I could not rate his career over the likes of (in no particular order): Montana, Marino, Elway, Unitas...there's a bunch I'd put ahead of him, including Brady and maybe Favre for their careers.

No, i think that Joe Montana is the greatest QB ever because he won 4 super bowls, was never picked in a super bowl, and Montana had the best passer rating in the NFL in the 80's. John Elway wasn't as good as Montana was either. If i remember correctly, Elway never won a super bowl until the last two years of his career, and was also labeled a "choker" before he won the super bowl.

You can't just base this on Superbowl wins people. Hell Bradshaw has 4 Super Bowl rings but doesn't rank with the greats.
Manning is Hall of Fame material for sure but still has a lot to prove to go ahead of the truely great QB's.

No. How many Superbowls has he won? Zero. Tom Brady is. He has won three and will be adding more soon. Go Pats!! Manning has had a difficult time winning the big games in the playoffs at Foxboro....thats the last place Manning wants to be.
