Current Driver Probations:
Kyle Busch untill 12/31 for: disobeyed a directive from a NASCAR official, entered the racing surface without authorization and threw an object at another competitor’s car during the event. (Coke 600)

Jeff Gordon until 8/30 a result of his involvement in an altercation on pit road [he pushed #17-Matt Kenseth] after the completion of Sunday’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Carl Edwards until 12/31 for violating Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing: hitting another competitor’s car after the completion of the race) (Michigan Busch)

He's on probation for being in a physical altercation with Matt Kenseth after a race earlier in the season. And to answer your question, if a driver is on probation, that means if they get into anymore trouble, which could be on the track ruff driving, or off the track altercations....NASCAR can park them, meaning they will make them sit out and not be able to race at all in 1 or more races.

Greg M: Carl was NOT already on probation when the incident happened with JR. He was put on probation after that.

And as we saw with Kevin Harvick a few years ago, something else about being on NASCAR probation....it means you are on probation for ANY NASCAR race that you run. If you are running in a truck or busch race and you get out of control, they can park you for ANY NASCAR race......so they don't just have to "be good" in the cup race, they have to be good in all of them.

For pushing Matt Kenseth. I'm glad he's on probation. He's incredibly rude. When he pushed Matt Kenseth, Matt Kenseth had gone up to Gordon to APOLOGIZE for bumping him and causing him to spin out.

Not to mention last week Scott Riggs had passed Gordon and Riggs went to congratulate Jeff and then Gordon started insulting Riggs. Saying he could've passed him better, and cleaner (he didn't even touch him). Gosh! Talk about a bad sport!

He's on probation because he shoved Matt after the first Bristol race that was earlier this year. Jeff shoved Matt because Matt spun Jeff out on the last lap of that race.

He is on probation because he pushed Matt Kinseth after the spring bristol race. It means that if he gets into any more trouble he will get fined or lose championship points.

Well, now you know why he is on probation. Now let me tell you waht it means. Apparently nothing, because Carl Edwards was already on probation when he ran into Jr.'s car at Michigan and he only got a fine!!!

Harvick wasn't on probation at the time of that incident. They deemed his offense sufficient to park him without probation.
