if you just down loaded Yahoo messanger you should have the beta version (the newist) if you have that at the top of your buddy list is a + button thats the add button. when you know someones IM screen name click that button and type there name in the space provided once that is done you can click on there name on your buddy list and tlak to them by typing in the message box and pressing the send button or by hitting the enter key. If they are online you can continue talking to them while they respond to you. not knowing what your problem is i hope this helped.
