Did it have you in stitches?

Amazing how little people have changed in the past 100 years.
My gf and I were reading one evening recently and she finally took the book from me to see what was so damn funny, after a few moments she was howling too. I read it years ago, but I’ve traveled since then, and appreciated it even more this time around.

Yes. It’s awesome. ‘Twain’s’ insights about a great many things are still exactly on the money - religion, politics, etc. But if he wasn’t insightful he wouldn’t be a great writer, and if people changed so fast we wouldn’t have nations or cultures. Glad you mentioned it, hope it inspires more readers.

One of the best Twain books I've ever read.

"The gentle reader will never, never know what a consummate *** he can become until he goes abroad. I speak now, of course, in the supposition that the gentle reader has not been abroad, and therefore is not already a consummate ***. If the case be otherwise, I beg his pardon and extend to him the cordial hand of fellowship and call him brother." And the first time I read that (I've read the book a few times), I was hooked on Twain for a lifetime.
