Hotels right on the gulf side are Marriot (nice suites), Best Western, Hampton, and Comfort Inn. You might also consider one of the bed and breakfasts in downtown Pensacola. They are beautiful historic homes and not too far to drive to the beach. A popular place with visitors and locals for dinning is McGuires - be sure to leave your names on a dollar bill stapled to wherever you can find. On the beach you will find Flounders, Peg Leg Pete's, Crabs, and a number of other dining places. A gentleman I talked to recently from Yahoo!Answers came to Pensacola with his fiance. They enjoyed Hemingway's Restaurant, but he said it was pricey but was worth it for the food and service. Quietwater Boardwalk is where the night life begins on the weekends. Depending on the time you come there are parasailing and jet skiing rentals available at Quitewater. Places to visit are the Zoo in gulf breeze, The Naval Aviation Museum at NAS, the Pensacola Lighthouse also at NAS, and much more. Feel free to email me through my profile if you have more questions.

There is a annual alternative lifestyle gathering in Pensacola. You may want to make sure you're not there that week...unless your into that kinda stuff. I've lived in Florida and Texas and Pensacola, in my opinion, has some of the nicest beaches on the Gulf of Mexico...white sand and nice clear water. It's not Caribbean clear blue water, but still very nice. Hotel on the beach is definitely the way to go. They have the usual hotels...best western, Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden.

For an anniversary, I wouldn't choose Pensacola. If you can still / or want to, change your mind. Head on down to Indian Rocks Beach on the Gulf, it's just west of Tampa sort-a-kind-a. Near Seminole. I've vacationed there a few times and have also spent some time in Pensacola. I would suggest checking the internet for beach houses to rent. I've always had excellent luck renting them! They are usually all pretty booked..so check soon!

I recommend the Ramada Bayview. Its a nice hotel on the bay, only like a 10 minute drive to Pensacola Beach and it is very affordable. My dad lives there and I've stayed there with some friends before. I am planning on moving down for the summer, I will probably get there the end of May and stay until June or July. I know of some pretty cool little places since I've been there a dozen times. If ya want to hang out while your there let me know. =) P.s. I attached the info for the Ramada in case you want to check it out

We went for the very first time to Florida this summer. We were in Destin fl.........From Panama City up to the Fort Walton area, is what they call the Emerald Coast. Its beautiful....We stayed in the Holiday Inn Destin, Destin, Fl.....Very nice and economical. The hotel does not want you to leave...lol....so they are very accomadating. Has two pools, one inside, one outside, two bars, one inside, one outside. In the hotle lobby area for guest, they have family nights, have huge big screen tv. Will watch your children on evenings you want to do adult things in the area. So very family and individual oriented. Best food in town. We visited other popular restaurants, but should have stayed in hotel...food was great and very reasonable. The beach, oh my. It was gorgeous. We rented the umbrellas and laid around most of the day. Water was wonderful...very clear. Was so surprised because we had always heard the gulf was nasty. Not in Destin or along the Emerald Coast. Just go to Destin.com and you will find all sorts of areas to stay. Have a wonderful time and October is a good time to go.

Definitly try a vacation rental. Vacation rentals are vacation homes, condos, cabins, chalets, resorts, that are rented out by owners.
You can find a bunch at the resources I provided below. I guarantee you will find a nice place to stay in Pensacola after looking through them. Much better than staying at a hotel.

Take a light weight sweater, it gets cool at night and take a drive over to Tallahassee to see the capital bldg and FSU. Then you can take a quick trip to Thomasville, Georgia for great antiques
