I am trying to learn how to skateboard; yeah I'm one of those stubborn do-it-yourselfers or teach-yourselfers. What brand/kind should I get...? I was thinking of element, but I'm still looking. Please tell me why you recommend the brand you did. And if you can offer some tips, and other stuff like helmets, pads, etc.

i would not recomend element ive heard they break easaly, my board is a pro and it has lasted for a really long time and is a good board for beginers and pro's,the disign doesnt really matter its just what u feel confertable riding. for tips, watch out for rocks, even the smallest of rocks can send u flying in the air depending on ur speed, i should know i broke my arm going up a hill and hitting a rock. and besides that dont get frustrated if u always lose ur balance or cant land a trick it takes quite along time to get the hang of skateboarding, or it did to me at least, about 6 months of practice and i finaly am confident skateboarding. and one more thing do not get plastic trucks, (trucks being the part that holds ur wheels) plastic trucks are slow, they break easaly, and screw up the way u turn.

properly I easily have been skating for bout 6 years on and rancid and that i might recommend which you no longer purchase a Kmart board. If attainable make investments right into a variety call board that would desire to run you approximately 60 funds. or much extra useful in case you have a close-by skateboarding keep they might have a number of their boards which run regularly approximately 30 funds. however the extra funds is definitely spent using fact those boards final.

What do you plan to learn...if you are going to teach yourself tricks...as a beginner you gonna want a light board...for that reason go with a Libtech or the new Element Helium.....check out skatesusa.com.
