Have you heard of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) or the Rules of Engagement (ROE), also you might check out what the military considers to be Lawful Targets and Combatants. These things may help you to find some answers to your question. You must understand that the US military doesn't initiate anything until there is a VERY GOOD reason. Did you know that people fighting in war are not legally permitted to use enemy ammunition or weapons? How crazy is that? Also, if a US soldier is fired upon and returns fire and wounds the enemy, he must give medical treatment to the enemy... How hard would it be to try to save the life of the person that you just tried to kill because they were attempting to kill you? I am a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, so this is something that is very close to my heart. I was not trying to attack you personally, but if you think we are doing more harm than good, you are quite wrong. I have spoken with many of the locals in the Middle East, and I assure you, they are very thankful that we are there. They know and tell us that we are doing a good job at making life better for them.

One thing I forgot... It seems that the news portrays more of the bad than the good, which is unfortunate. If you really would like to know what is happening in the Middle East, ask a person who has been there. They may have better information, and I am sure they would love to share their experience.

Murder cannot be tolerated. And those who commit it have separated themselves from the family of mankind.

"…varying from the right rule of reason, whereby a man so far becomes degenerate, and declares himself to quit the principles of human nature and to be a noxious creature." John Locke

Such creatures have become as mad dogs and are to be treated in the same manner. Destroyed before they can kill again.

There is no greater infringement upon the rights of others than to take their life. So it most important to discourage this activity within a given society.

Therefore:

"Each transgression may be punished to that degree, and with so much severity, as will suffice to make it an ill bargain to the offender." John Locke

For a few reasons

1. The military that is the strongest rules the world.

2. What else can you do with a killer? Kill them They declared war on us.

3. We are not trying to show anyone that killing is wrong. We are defending our right to exist.

That's not the way it is... you kill people, who kill people to stop them from killing more people.... like your self, or your family for example. But if you really feel that way, you and your family can go and be human shields for the terrorist.

BTW to "Its Me... thank you for your service.

Good question - you tell me, because I don't get it! To me proactive murder, whether that be the death penalty, genocide, or casualties resulting from war, is the ultimate display of immorality. I will NEVER find it acceptable.

I base my political opinions on morals I've developed independent of my religious beliefs (I am a devout Christian.) I hate to see our nation's leadership integrate religion into political decisions, especially since Republicans have so perverted the basis of Christianity. They often use the quote, "Eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth" as justification for capital punishment or collateral damage in war. But I must ask, have these people never read the New Testament? Jesus REVISED previous laws, saying (and I quote Him) "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." Their selective application of Christianity seems remarkably comparable to the manipulation of Islam by terrorists. It's sickening.

Why do we put people in jail who have abducted and constrained other people in order to show them that abduction and constrainment of other people is wrong?

Because the severity of punishment should match the severity of the crime.

Doh!!!
