Just speaking for myself ...

1) Because I think learning is fun -- and I hoped that I might help at least a few other people feel the same way.

2) Because I think bright people often are unchallenged and tune out -- and I hoped I could develop creative, interesting ways to engage talent before it was forgotten.

3) Because it's incredibly rewarding to get to know so many different people with so many different idiosyncracies, talents, and interests. As a teacher, you get a unique window into a lot of different people's thought processes. And people, by and large, are pretty darn cool.

The vacation schedule isn't half bad either. :-)

In actually fact we are all teachers to some degree. I guess those that choose to study learn and become teachers feel strongly about sharing what they know with the world and believe in their ability to teach others . They may believe strongly that they have what it takes to guide others and they are passionate about wanting to help others to learn. Maybe when they were growing up they didn't have teachers like themselves and their own education experience was not what it could have been and they strive to make a difference by becoming teachers themselves and providing a learning style of their own where students will benefit from. Some people become teachers because their families push them in that direction because they expect them do follow in their footsteps. Whatever reasons they choose this career lets hope they have good intentions because it's an important role and would be very challenging but also rewarding in the end. A great teacher leaves impressions on lives.
