paternity case settled within 1month. The estate case in not settled yet and it is still charging me and all he hass to do is divide the estate into thirds. I think it is delayed because he is taking land from my estate for payment and I have not seen a bill yet. I do not know what he is charging for. The longer he delay, then I will not have any land left. I have asked him to settle this for years. What can I do?

Hire an independent accountant to audit your account with him. He sounds like a crook to me and if you suspect him of double dealing than you need to get this straightened out. When you find out what's going on, one way or the other, then hire another attorney to finish this business. This should have been taken care of a long time ago.

What kind of arrangement did you have with the attorney? He is not able to just "take land" but it is time to stop being patient and get this resolved. Perhaps you need a new attorney. You are correct in your assumption that the longer the case is delayed the more he will bill. Get this resolved even if that means paying him a visit.

Ask him for an accounting of the assets of the estate, going back the full three years. He's legally obliged to provide it on demand.
