Hi Moms,

Please share your experience and any advice with me if you have gone
through this or know someone who has......

I'm 35 years old, this pregnancy is my first and has NOT
been "normal". Just when I think things are finally settling down and
I can "enjoy" being pregnant....poop hits the fan. Here is the newest
update.

Finally at 36 weeks, baby has settled (again) into a transverse
position and his fluid is getting low. The doctor wants to do an amnio
to test for lung maturity, but amnio this late really scares the *(^$@
outta me. Anyone else have a late amnio? Also, I am effaced and
dialated to 1 if this helps.

Thanks for any help....

are you on bed rest? the minut amount of fluid they take won't hurt your baby, but honestly I don't know if I would do it. I would probably cross my legs and stay in bed for another week out of fear. I am sorry you are going through this. To me it sounds like he is getting ready to schedule you asap for a section and wants to cover his butt to make sure your baby is not too premature. That he has lung maturity, just know that now because of fertility drugs this is a more common procedure late in pregnancy. Ask on a mom of multiples message board. I think it is called surfactant sp?? they test for. (hug)

Well, I first would suggest an ultrasound to determine how much fluid is in there. You should have a few of them in a couple of days so they can see how fast you are losing it. If he as risk for now having enough fluid, then I think that instead of having the amnio, I would just deliver him. You are out of the danger at 35 weeks anyways, so in all actuality, he should already be fine, but the longer that you can hold out, the safer. Good luck, and I will keep you and your baby in my prayers.

Well my daughter was in the "normal head down position" then my next appt she was transverse... of course..lol Because of my blood pressure being higher than they liked they decided that day for a c-section ( I think in hindsight that they rushed it) . My daughter was born around 37 weeks ... she did inhale some blood during delivery and had to be in NICU for 10 days until it cleared up and that was about it... healthy in every other aspect. I dont think the inhaling of the blood would be too much of a worry...
Ive never had an amnio and wouldnt unless I had to.... but thats my transverse story...lol Good Luck

I cant believe I am going to be so brutally honest. I don't know if it is because of the experience I had with my last son when he was born or what ( transverse) they wanted to turn him etc..... I wouldn't blah blah blah........ If you are not leaking amniotic fluid I would say no. An amino can cause labor, The old saying goes everyday the bun is in the oven is one less week in neo natal unit. Babies come when they are ready. No one has ever been pregnant forever. Your body is all ready getting ready for the birth. Bottom line, If you feel this is not right for you than say it isn't don't feel guilty and don't doubt yourself. You relax, say prayers over your and the baby and get his/her room ready. and REST now because you will never sleep the same again........:)
