Is it me or what but I feel that women today are not caring as much for relationships and getting married as before. I feel that they are beginning to be the way guys have been for years in the way that they just look for someone for the night.

You are so right! But, after soooooo many years of it being ok for a man to do whatever he pleases, women have finally gotten there also. Sadly, we still can't brag about it as men can. But, both men and women are at fault about your statement. AND society makes it soooo easy to get out of marriage or relationship. Everyone says, if you're not happy find someone else, and it doesn't even matter HOW many someone elses they go through. Think about it, back in the day, when our parents and grand parents had problems THEY WORKED IT OUT. They worked it out no matter how long it took (there are exceptions ex: physical or substance abuse, etc.) Nowadays, people are told just leave or get a divorce and want things to be "worked out" within a few weeks!

I don't think is losing respect as it the sign of the times. Back in the 50's families were defined by father working mother stay home. Now woman have their careers and waiting to get married if they want too. Its the norm that we need a two paychecks to have a family and then balancing family with work. I would also like to point out how TV treat the family, look it how people are being treated. Father's have no respect, kids are latch keys due to the demands of the family, women are breadwinners and career driven etc Thanks to what? Lets not forget the other types of families being shown on the TV screens too.

Wow, you are finally seeing it? I used to in my youth use men sexually, and yep I was proposed to 10 times, mind you I was VERY bold, I was a condom carrying gal in the mid 1980s and I entered a marriage back in 1988, was faithful, and then he cheated on me last year...and now I am single again. I recently remember the rampage of my youth, and there is no way I would ever go back to that lifestyle...yep I could still pull it off...I wear a size 4 and I am 40 years old. Nothing plastic about me. However, this time I have found someone, and we are serious. The maturity of finding a life time partner, and marrying them is a lot more rewarding than using a guy, and then moving on without attachment. Sure Divorce hurts, but not risking my heart again would hurt more. I would hate to not have my heart again. Love is wonderful. Sex, without love...been there - done that....and it is just relieving your physical desires.

The reasons to be married these days are not the same as "back then". Women used to have only one role for themselves, and that was to become a wife, and a Mother, now, there are all kinds of options for women. But, not all women are looking for a one night's stand. Everyone wants to be loved for who they are, and someone to accept them unconditionally.

I would almost have to agree with that statement. It is almost like women have been conditioned not to expect much from a man. I can't tell you how many women I have worked with come to work on Monday morning talking about the guy they took home friday or saturday night. You ask them if they like him or if they plan on seeing him again and they look at you like your crazy. I had one woman actually tell me..." I didnt even know his name so chances of me seeing him again are slim" she then laughed. I did not find this funny at all. I think we are selling ourselves short....it's really a shame.

Well nowadays we have poor role models. We see our parents or family member get divorced, we see our friends doing the same thing, we see it in the media...it's everywhere. We are told time and time again that there's no value in relationships anymore. It is the values instilled in us by the people who came before us. It's contagious.

i would say women are definitely losing respect for themselves.the society is tolerant of all sorts of behaviours, nothing is wrong anymore...selfrespect and decency have flown through the window...

i think for me the definition of a woman who doesnt respect herself is a woman who lives her life the way society expects her to.
a woman who bases her desitions in life on what other people believe is best for her.
