one word: practice

Practice all of your scales and memorize them. work on them slowly at first and speed up until you get fast enough to shred like hell.

Classical licks . He has a lot of classical background. All the good players do. 1st it was Randy Rhoads then Malmsteen came along a took it 1 step further. Zakk Wylde has a classical background also. Great one study classical guitar and put it too metal. I still think Randy Rhoads was the best. Listen to the song Diary of a Madman. Try to pick out the cat gut strings in the acoustic parts and the steel string parts. The man was unbelievable!! He used 2 different acoustic guitars on that song. 1 was cat gut strings and the other was steel strings!! And the solo in the song when it starts listen to the dive bomb of the trem right as he starts the solo coming out of the rhythm part before the solo. Hard to here if you don`t listen close!!

practice your scales with a metronome. pick each note alternately up ,down start slow so you have each note of the scale clear and in time speed it up as your chops get faster and clearer don't expect to be shreding the first day It takes years of hard work!

i agree with the others except that to sound like someone else means you need their equipment, hands, and brain. inspiration is always good, but develop your own style instead.
