Yes... it is not in an asteroid field... it is too big to have ever been an asteriod... it does Not orbit a planet, therefore it is a planet... what else can you call it... a large body all alone in space? THose people who say otherwise are just arguing their oppinion vs. the facts as they are.... it does not orbit another planet, it is not a moon, it is much too large to be an asteriod... it is simply a small rocky planet... and that's that, I don't care what the textbooks say... the textbooks are not always right... that's been prooven in history... they used to think that the sun orbited the earth, and that the earth is flat, and now further flaws... they claim Evolution as total fact, when it is still only a theory and there are many unexplained gaps in the theory... and if the textbooks tell me that Pluto is not a planet, that life is an accedent and random chance caused it all, and that there is no purpose, and that "survival of the fittest" is good. That is what Hitler believed, his ideology was based upon evolution, though Darwin was not a racist, Hitler was only trying to speed up "natural selection, by exterminating "usless eaters"... THIS is a fact, and they are teaching our children that we are nothing but animals in pants... the same ideology of Hitler... and then we are shocked when morality fades and kids do drugs or bring guns to school.... and evolution is still taught in school...
they need to start teaching some facts in school... they don't even alow people to tell the students that there are other scientific views other than evolution or the problems presented in the theory, they don't allow a different theory to be taught in school, insted they claim evolution as the only fact, regardless of what the evidence says...
If Einstein taught in schools today, he would be forced out, because he commonly refered to God, he would be immediantly repremended, and or sued, by the school...
I guess the first amendment doesn't allow Inteligent Design the right to exist acording to the ACLU...
Since Evolution is simply put, only a theory, they should present ID as well, and the facts and evidence as it is, then they should see which lines up with the facts... and which one is more scientific, without dismising Creationism as crap, they should investigate it like real scientist do... then allow the students, who are smart enough to make their own logical decissions to choose for themselves which one that they choose to have faith and believe in.
It's only fair, and the constitition supports it, but the judges and the ACLU do not... what freedom... forced only one view and avoiding the problems with that view... that is exactly what the schools are doing...
So they call the God believers ignorant and stupid, how open minded of the librals, how fair they are...
some freedom...
God bless you and yours

"A rose by any other name would still be a rose". Pluto is still the 9th orbit from the some (if you don't count the asteroid belt and yes, sometimes it is 8th). They've written a new definition and it changes Pluto's classification, but it doesn't change any of the reality. 95% of people will continue to call it a planet and less than 1% will get upset just as we still say metric when the proper name is Systeme International or SI.

I think Pluto should be granted a special dispensation. It holds a place in our hearts and the solar system just wouldn't be the same without it!

I was just discussing this with my friend the other night! We all were taught that the solar system has 9 planets. If they are going to take back this fact, then they could take back basically any other fact in the world. Soon they will make Iraq disappear as a country! what is this world coming to!

Pluto, is one of many objects part of the Kuiper Belt. Pluto is not the only one of these objects that has objects orbiting it and it is not even the largest of these planets. It just happened to be the first of many objects in the Kuiper Belt to be discovered. It was once thought that Pluto was fairly large, but it is not even as large as the moon. Pluto orbit is not even in the same plane as the other planets. Pluto is not a planet, it is a Kuiper Belt object that is the same as all comets except that it hasn't been kicked into the inner solar system yet.
