What does Shiomi and Yoshio Mean?

Shiomi : probably --> shio = salt air ; mi = beautiful
Yoshio : good man

BUT, these readings depend a great deal on the kanji (Chinese character) used. There are many many ways to read "yoshio" for example.

The Japanese language uses characters instead of letters to make words. Each character has at least 2 different readings, the original Chinese way (onyomi) and the adapted Japanese way (kunyomi). The character for "down", for example, can be read at least 6 or 7 different ways, and the sound "ko" can be written by about 40 different characters!

If you're asking these questions because you're in Japan, the best way to find out is to ask them. It isn't really as easy as it is in Canada because a word that sounds one way could have a few different meanings depending on what characters it uses.

Generally speaking, using the same site I used in the other question, Yoshi seems to be quiet. The o at the end is similar to the ko in Kimiko, but denoting male, instead of female. For a male name, Kimiko would be Kimio and for a female, Yoshio would be Yoshiko.

I didn't find Shiomi but I think Shio might be white, if thats any help to you.
