My Mother usually used Cheer, HOWEVER, we were very poor, so sometimes she bought Duz, because they gave you premiums in the box. If we needed a dish cloth or dish towel, she'd buy the small box. For a face towel she'd buy the medium. For a bathtowel, she'd buy the large. They were nice towels, too, although kinda thin. So what did YOUR Mommy use to get your clothes smelling clean and fresh?

My mother used Duz too for the towels. I also remember the bleach man comming around too . Just like the milk man.I wonder how those guys made money. I grew up in Chicago. I dont know if everyone had bleach men comming around. Delivering 1 gallon glass bottles of bleach. Thanks for the memory......

It was the 50s and Mother used Cheer or Oxydol. She has never been very domestic, so I'm not sure how she decided which one to use. She also kept either Dreft or Ivory Snow on hand for delicates. I still remember how all of those detergents smelled, and that's probably why I hate using the new liquid high efficiency detergent that is required for my new high efficiency front loading washer. I wouldn't have bought the washer if I had known that in advance. I don't mind the liquid part as much as the lack of fragrance. There is one product that is ok, Gain Original Fragrance high eff., but it is rarely available. Scent is such a strong connection to our childhood.

we were poor when us kids were little ones so she bought the cheapest stuff she could find. After I was a teenager, I remember her using Tide. That's what I use now, not cause I choose to, but because that's what my husband says cleans the best. Like he would know!

I remember my mom buying the big buckets of what ever laundry detergent was cheapest, refilling them with smaller boxes when money was tight. I'm thinking she brought the Arrow brand from Winn Dixie.
