The difference is blood and pus. When you have a sinus infection there will more than likely be blood coming from your nose or throat if it has dripped down. There may well likely be a smelly pus like discharge as well, from the nose or expelled from the throat by coughing. I have had four children and had sinus infections with all pregnancies. The doctors says it must just be the way my body works. I hope this helps.

With a sinus infection you will have green or thick cloudy mucus. With colds you can have the same thing. The coloring is a sign of infection. With allergies the running will usually be watery and thin, even though your nose is running like a sieve, you can't get air in through your nose. Hope this helps, dear. Nana

A cold is caused by a virus. Allergies are caused by a reaction to something such as pollen, cats etc. A sinus infection is just what it says, an infection of one of the sinus cavities.

well for my opinion, an allergy makes you sneeze and cough, while a sinus infection is in your head behind your eyes, and above your nose, it feels really painful and stuffy. you can take an allergy pill for both, just look at what the symptoms are and get a pill that helps that problem, I ask the pharmacist too, they're really smart with drugs.
