If I go to an NFL game and I take a picture of an NFL superstar ex: Michael Vick, can I use that same picture to sell products such as shirts or jackets?

I don't think so.

My advice is to get a Life Events Legal Plan from Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. With this you will be able to:
-Ask a Lawyer any question you need a legal answer to, you can ask as many questions as you want. No Limit.
-While talking with you if the Lawyer feels a letter or phone call made by them on your behalf will help, they will do that.
-They will review and advise you on any contract or document. (buying a home, car, even cell phone. Any document you don't fully understand)
-A Will, get a Standard Will (more complex than a simple will) and have it updated every year as long as you are a member.
-Traffic Ticket help, Get a ticket, get advice on how to handle it or have them go to court for you.
No matter what state you have a question in, we have a law firm that can handle your issue. No matter what area of law, we have it covered. There is so much more included go to the site below to find out more, contact me through that site if you have questions.

Good luck.

No.

What if someone took a picture of Julia Roberts and used the pictures on KKK Propaganda and T-Shirts?

It would be sending the message that Julia Roberts is a White Supremacist and Anti-Semitic. If you haven't obtained the written consent of the Celebrity, you can't use their pictures or likeness to endorse products they haven't approved.

People who attempt to do that would be exploiting the fame of the Celebrity for their own personal gain, which may not always be in the best interest of the Celebrity or even embrace ideals congruent to that of the Celebrity.

Even with Companies, people aren't allowed to take a Company Logo and advertise themselves as being affiliated with that Company without permission.

It would be easy to go around and claim your Computer Software Program is affiliated with Microsoft, Sun Systems, Dell, or Gateway, but if you haven't obtained their permission, they could sue.

The reason why it's set up that way is because someone could abuse the Company's name and make it look like the Company is endorsing products or services that it has no knowledge of or could even be bad.

That's why you see photos in the media where they'll fuzz out the faces of people in the video whose written consent they haven't obtained for usage of their likeness. It's to avoid legal entanglements when they blur the faces of people who are walking by in a camera shot.

o You can not use it. Pictures can be taken in Public, that is legal, but You can not use, or reproduce anything, or anyone that has a Copyright, i.e., Professional Football League, Basketball, Baseball, or Nascar, etc. And yes eventually You will get sued. Why do You think after a Major event, on Television, they announce, This broadcast can not be copied or reproduced without the written consent of the National, (let's say) Football League?

That makes You wonder why Stars do not get copyrights.

No. Calif. has super-strict laws on that, but it's not allowed anywhere. Just see how fast they sue you.

In addition to the law, there are terms and conditions when you buy the ticket.
