I am not black but I can speak for my husband, who is, when I say, absolutely, yes. We are trying to find ways for us to do exactly that. I know of many, many people black and white who would love for the opportuniy to live there.
I know many people who have already moved there to try and build up and support the economy.
I encourage all people, black and white to take an interest in the welfare of Africa. White people may not have descended from Africa directly, but Africa is the cradle of civilization and also many European countries, from which we descend had a large hand in the destruction of Africa.
Thankyou for this question.

I struggle to understand what you mean when you say ‘a continent in desperate need of a new breed of Africans.’ Maybe I take that phrase in the wrong way but it seems as if to say the indigenous population of Africa is not capable of re-building their own country but need African-Americans! Yes, we should help others to help themselves and educate others to the plight of others in need but our ways are not necessarily what they desire…

*"After independence we will have to stand on our own and rely on our own resources, the unifying force, the cement…which had hitherto been supplied by the United Kingdom Government will be removed, and will have to be replaced by new virtues of our own which must be capable of keeping all the diverse elements of the country together, in mutual trust and harmony and with a common national purpose."

Nevertheless, if your heart so desires to immigrate to Africa or any other country for that matter why not? There are millions of people of all nationalities the world over leaving their resident country to venture forward to another life in different parts of the world not just to a country the colour of their skin possibly assigns them to. I celebrate the country of my origin, which is not where my parents were born but who immigrated some 60 years ago and therefore I only know of my country of residence.

You do not need to be of a type of people to help others. I help out in many countries from where I reside. For example I sponsor children in Africa so that they can go to school to train as the teacher, the doctor, the business man or woman, the lawyer whatever he or she dreams of and then this will help them to become, and I use your term loosely, the ‘new breed of Africans’ that you so speak of; to re-build their country. We have to crawl before we can walk.

I do believe in the humanitarian cause of helping Africa which is the motherland of all human beings. But specifically African Americans need to help Africa in order to help themselves. Because every industry in America is ran by White people from Agriculture to Technology to even Entertainment. Africa is the only continent that is full of resources that people of African descent have sovereign power, without which you can't affect change in society, so much discrimination including institutionalized racism has kept African Americans back, committed by instilled racism because Whites have sovereign power in America, in the judicial branch of government including law enforcement. working in cahoots with public and private institutions keep African Americans from achieving great destiny. Africa is the only place where people of African descent can possibly have industry captains, possibly future trillionaires because Africa is the world's richest continent. African Americans GDP is 900 Billion annually but they have no where to spend that money for their social, political and economic development due the fear Whites have of Black power in the U.S. Asians thrive now because they have Asia as their resource and industry control base to invest their money and grow worldwide as a group. Hispanics have Latin American and are slowly making similar strides, so are Indians and Arabs making strides to connect with their homeland's base resources and industry to grow worldwide as a group. African Americans need to stop fearing White reprisal and stand up on their own as an international people.

im not trying to be nasty or racist but when the black africans started kicking out the white africans thats when the problems started rhodesia was once known as the breadbasket of africa but they kicked the white africans out and they lost the knowlage of the farming now its baron wasteland so i think decendents from african (not all only the ones that are concerned ) should go back with the white africans and rebuild africa into a great comtinent that it has the potential to be.

No. My ancestors might have been from there, but I no longer have ties there or connections. I value my heritage, but I wouldn't have a permanent residence there. In Africa, Africans enslave other Africans and genicide is happening. Yes, I would visit and help, but I would still live in the U.S.

No, I would not. I feel that African Americans/Black Americans, whatever....are very far separated from Africans. Many Africans do not like Black Americans, and would not welcome us.

Did you see, "Hotel Rwanda"....you see what happened when some Africans were threatened by the possibility of another group having more power. And its not like there could rely on the U.N. or the U.S. to help us if something went wrong.

So...to answer again....no I would not.

Also, its not like we know what part of Africa we are even from. We lost the option to return to our countries, because we have no idea what country we are from. Not to mention, most Blacks in America are mixed with white, Indian, and/or some other ethnicities, so why should we identify with, and want to help Africa?

I would love to visit, but I am an American. African Americans have made many contributions to this country and there is no reason we need to leave it. Because we were stripped of our African cultures it is not likely that African would seem much easier fore us. Maybe that's why we fight for equality were we are. We are now Americans and just want to be accepted as such.

Why would Black Americans leave for Africa?because they are black? they have as much right to be here as anyone else, almost all their ancestors where brought here against their will, they are here to stay, under this rule Irish,Italians,Germans,Catholics,Jews should be sent back, leaving only the American Indian to reclaim what was taken from them.

I think the important part of your questions was "Black Americans." Our ancestors helped to build this country just as many others. This is home. Therefore, I would not feel the need to move to Africa. I have rights to be here.
