I found degreasers work good. I use a product called basic H by Shakley for all kinds of similar situations like cleaning stove tops, oil spills on concrete etc. Follow instruction as a little really does a big job. Its not cheap but a quart will last years.

The best thing I have used to clean grease or oil out of clothing is to add about one half cup of Lestoil to the wash water with whatever detergent you use. Check the label on the pillow for washing instructions. The lestoil will remove grease and oil out of auto mechanics uniforms, so should work very well for olive oil. You can soak the pillow in a sink in clear water, to wash away some of the olive oil; before putting it in the wash. Good luck and have a good day!

Out of a pillow or pillow case? Your brother is an environmentalist; that's good. If it's just a bit of oil on the pillow case, you can actually use the washing machine and a chemical. If it's actually in your pillow, that's a lot of oil to put into the water system so just throw the pillow out.

I will not ask the obvious question of how it got there. You need to read the directions on the pillow to see if it can even be washed. A dry cleaner may be your best bet.

I agree with Brock G. Shakly products are working solutions for most home cleaning. It SHOULD work, but I would also try Oops waterbased or Gonzo from Homax.
