Why Israel gets nervous when other countries, try to get stronger economically and militarily?

That's easy. Israel is aware that it is surrounded by nations that it feels threatened by. Whether that is actually a legitimate feeling is another question because if it wanted to Israel is capable of destroying any of its neighbors at any time with its superior nuclear capabilities. The Arab nations may talk about destroying Israel but they are just blowing hot air. It is simply rhetoric without any substance and Israel knows this. The Arab countries know it as well. If they want to become stronger, it is only to protect themselves against the military might of Israel. Israel really has no reason to be nervous. They have won every single war they have fought against the Islamic countries. This latest battle with Hezbollah was not decisive in my opinion. Hezbollah did not collapse as Israel might have expected but that does not mean that Israel could not destroy Hezbollah if it wanted to.

israel maintains their independence as a nation through technologically superior firepower (largely supplied by the U.S.). all of its neighbors want it destroyed. so if iran or syria get nukes, bio/chem weapons or even better fighter jets it may be a cause for concern because the superior firepower compensates for their small size and populaiton.

Half of your question is based on a wrong assumption. Israel is not squelching other counties' economies. They have repeatedly invited them to do business. It is the racism of the other countries' culture that prevents them from benefit ting by doing business with Israel.

They do squelch neighboring countries' military might because the neighboring countries keep trying to use their military might to destroy Israel. It started the day Israel was declared a state by the U.N.

Israel literally bombed Iran's nuclear development program because Iran's been threatening to destroy them. Not just to subdue them, but to kill every one until they all leave or are dead. This is repeated all over the Muslim world. I am not giving you a bunch of hate speech. I am telling you what I know. I have video links to recordings of their most popular political and religious leaders saying these exact things. We have to wake up from our fog of moral equivalence between people who are trying to live in peace and their immoral neighbors who swear by their god to kill them or die trying. They target Israel and they target us. Us means anybody who does not accept Allah as their god and Muhammad as His prophet. That's why there are attacks in Spain, England, France, Russia, Germany, and the U.S. not because they are repressed but because they are taught to hate from birth. The people who perpetrate these attacks are not poor people even by our standards of living. They qualify as middle income and are often in college or employed in good paying positions.

You will hear them say they are taught peace, but the truth is, Islam is a warrior religion and they are taught peace only with one another, and death to everyone else.

I know nice people, good people who worship Allah and read the Koran, most of them are, but either they do not want the lifestyle the Koran propagates or are ignorant of its original purpose or they are covering up their real purpose, to extend the influence of sharia law over the whole earth.

The same is true of most Christians. They do not hold to the deep tenets of the Christian faith because they don't want to live the lifestyle of the all out Christian but unlike Islam, Christianity is not forwarding conversion by threat of death or any other form of coercion. We are taught to tell the good news and let the hearer decide for themselves. The difference is stark, Christianity is to speak the truth even if it costs them their lives, while Islam is to demand faith and belief even if it cost them their lives.
