It doesn't happen often, and is based on behavior he witnessed growing up with his parents who fought all the time. I want to stay with him, but only if he can get his anger issues under control.

They do not have "anger issues". They are spoled brats and need to grow up.

Well when I was younger, I would just flare up and yell at the person who made me angry... As time went by, I began to reflect and realised that getting angry and acting upon that anger is not a very wise thing to do. So now whenever I'm angry, I self talk. I remind myself in my head that I don't want to lose my temper, I don't want to shout and I don't want to use unpleasant words on others. While I feel my anger rising, I keep telling myself in my head that it's very easy for me to shout at the other party but it's my choice to keep quiet and control the anger... And you know what? With practise, anger can be controlled... It's easier each time for me to control my anger.. the first time was the toughest because i had never done it before... now I can control my anger without hurting others and myself too.

I think this problem is definatly one that can be overcome. Your husband just may need some help in finding different ways to deal with his anger. If he hasnt talked with a professional, I would definatly advise that he do so. They have several different techniques to help. I personally had this problem and have learned better and more effective ways of dealing with my anger. I too grew up in an abusive household with lots of yelling. This is a learned behavior, but the good news here is that it can also be unlearned. My best to you and good luck.

Well first he needs to know that he has a problem in order for him to help himself. If this is what he witnessed growing up, he may think that this is somehow the "right way" to express his anger. He may need to take some anger management classes in order to get his issues under control.

Counseling and sometimes medicine. I went through the same situation, and my husband went on anti anxiety meds and he was then able to control his fits, I call them. He too was raised in a home with constant fighting and no respect for other people. Please do not believe you have to live with his behavior. Your husband will have to want to get help. Sometimes that his hard on a mans ego, just let him know that you will be there to help him through it, if he is willing to take the first step. Good Luck, Peace be with you and your family.

I have the same problem. he needs to work on this issue. I too grew up with my parents fighting constantly and it really did damage my perception of relationships and my reaction to issues that arise. it's something more serious than people like to claim but the solution is that he works on this himself. you can't help him but what he needs to do is realize that anger causes more damage than if he just chilled for a second. tell him to go take a cold shower when he gets angry or drink a lot of cold water, he needs to write down his thoughts when he's angry and then go back and read them so he realizes he needs to work on this. when someone is angry and they write their thoughts and then read them later they realize how hurtful the words are. when they speak they have NO idea what the hell they are saying and this is what causes the problem. he needs to really take care of this problem otherwise it only gets worse with time because it's brewing inside of him. sometimes people like this explode because of the tension building up inside of them. anger is dangerous because it does more than just psychological damage.

It certainly is possible. It just requires the adult grow up, and give up the temper tantrums.

one word- counceling!he needs to be shown that the way he grew up is not the only way. watch out.anger issues can one day turn into something far more physical.but this is only if he wants to face the issue. you may love him, but unless he faces this, your relationship is doomed to mysery.
