THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LOVING YOUR CHILDREN TOO MUCH!! Your ex is worried about them being soft because they are boys!! I kiss my girls everyday all day!! I make a game of it also...(shame!) there are days when things are rushed and they go off to school or the sitters without a kiss from me (I'm praying to God to bring them home safely so I can kiss them) as soon as they get in the car i say "whoever didn't get a kiss from me better come get it, if not you have to eat a whole plate of asparagus and liver!! They bombard me with kisses and i love you!!! Also, instill them to love one another and always trust each other no matter what. I tell my girls that they should trust each other more than they trust me! You are right about the memories, they will always remember you!!

You don't say how old your kids are, but my boy is 14 and for the most part, he will still give me a kiss good-bye, but only around his best friends. I always made it a point to hug and kiss him and remind him how much I love him. He was always told that he could talk to me about anything and I would not hold it against him. He is turning out to be a fine young man who makes good decisions and treats girls with respect. I am a single parent and have been since he was 2 years old.

Describes my childhood, hehe. Im the same way with my kids...arent they lucky!!!???
My boys are 10 and 12 and we have a great, sweet, loving and kind bond! Hopefully, your sons will look for a wife who possesses the same qualities to project onto your grandkids.
No time like the present to break the chain of parents who were cold or lacking in a good bond and loving ways. You're A okay in my book!! God bless you!!

It's okay to love your children, but for it to be healthy there have to be some boundaries and limitations. You want what is best for them in life I know, so understand that they need enough space away from you to grow correctly. They need to make mistakes to learn, and to deal with the consequences so when they are adultd they are not running to you to fix everything. Read some books on child/parent relationships, that is a loving thing to do for your children; also read books on codependency to avoid unhealthy relationships

I absolutley disagree that you can love your children too much. There is nothing at all wrong with expressing your love to your kids. The way and places you express it can be sometimes detrimental to their social life though. If they are older, I wouldn't hug and kiss them in front of their friends, but if you want to hug them at night thats fine. Your children undoubtedly know that you loove them unconditionally and you dont have to express it every 5 minutes. Its fine when they are younger but when they get older, respect their decision of privacy from intimacy with you. But there is nothing wrong with loving your kids and I'm 100% positive that they know you love them. I hope this helps.

What you describe doesn't seem out of line - there are a lot worse things than loving your kids! If your goal with them is to be a good mother, then you probably are.
If you are really concerned that you might be overdoing it, you can talk to someone whose opinion you trust (minister ? counsellor ? grandparent ?) to give you a fair assessment. You probably aren't getting one from an ex-husband who doesn't want his boys to be "soft" and a sister raised by the mother you describe.

Just be careful.. just like a lack of attention will force a kid to want more... too much attention will force a kid away. You have to try to keep this all in check or you may find that your kids are wanting to mature and grow up but it's difficult when you're smothering them.
Though, it is good to hear that there are people out there who care about their kids.

NO YOU ARE NOT WRONG FOR LOVING YOUR KIDS. I KISS AND HUG MINE ALL THE TIME. THAT IS ONE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS WAS TO LOVE. YOU KEEP ON LOVING YOUR BOYS, THEY WILL GROW UP KNOWING WHAT LOVE IS ABOUT. SO DO NOT LET ANYBODY TELL YOU OTHER WISE. GOD IS LOVE.

You can't love your kids too much! You care for them a lot and that's awesome! It's a shame more parents out there don't care for their kids enough.
