i always thought it was. ive watched many episodes trying to figure out what the big deal is! the joke of having nosy parents can only go so far! and for some reason raymonds mom always made me mad! do you agree that it was overrated?

It seemed like the show had the same underlying theme, but different circumstances/lines.
Debra's furious at Ray
Ray has no idea what he's done wrong
The Parents come over & tick Debra off
Robert is jealous of Ray
over and over and over again

It's not just about parents. The whole thing about Everybody Loves Raymond is basically it's making fun of the everyday situations that families go through. It's about dysfunctional families and trust me...there's at least a little dysfunction in every family. Although I think mine might be top of the list. lol. I love that show and have all six seasons on dvd.

It's a very popular show in our house, and we are still watching reruns. The writing was excellent--yes, it was a continuous rehash of the parent problem, but the writers were so clever in coming up with new situations and new ways to mkae the jokes. I personally think they did a great job! Sorry you didn't enjoy it, but I guess we all have different tastes.

No way, we still watch the re-runs over and over and over...guess you have to be Italian or Greek or European to appreciate the humour of coming from such a family! It's friggin hilarious.
I guess you didn't like My Big Fat Greek Wedding either?

OMG!! Thank you!!! I swear I thought I was the only one who, DIDNT love raymond!! That is true, the whole nosey parents isnt funny episode after episode. And OMG!!! Ugh! his mom! I just got soo grossed out of her, ugh!

I agree. The wife of Raymond is the one who got on my nerves. What a witch to be married to , you couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy ..no wonder the character was a nervous , neurotic reck with the nuts he had for family members..whoever wrote this show ..lt sucked and still does in reruns...Highly overated!!!

I never did like Raymond. I watched some episodes and I totally agree with you about Ray's mom. She made me so made everytime I watched it and I didn't like Robert, he was always whining about something.

It wasn't only the nosey parents it was the married thing that was funny. If you aren't married you won't get it but so many things he gets in trouble for are things I always get mad at my husband about. The sex issues the saying stuff and then realizing you said something stupid its classic!!
