"Maris Crane is a character on the American television sitcom Frasier. Often discussed on the show, she is never seen or heard. This allowed the writers to exaggerate her physical characteristics and various neuroses greatly to great comic effect, though according to the writers, they had intended Maris to appear in later episodes. After a time, they realized it would be impossible to cast an actress to match Maris' description, which had become "too reptile-like". Having Maris as an unseen character was inspired by Vera Peterson, Norm's oft-mentioned but rarely seen wife on Cheers."

They never showed Maris because there was no way that anyone could ever live up to the description. It was mush funnier to never see her. If they'd actually hired an actress it would have ruined it.

No. It was just a running gag. Plus it's a lot cheaper to have a character who never appears on screen.

No, I'm watching it right now on television and they only talk about Marise and what silly situation that she has done. I would like to see her myself.
