Get a babysitter. Agree with your husband on a date. Plan a romantic weekend away (mountain, beach, nearest big city, a fancy hotel room). Pack a new sexy lingerie but don't let him see it. When you get the hotel room (my wife loves Westin Hotels and Resorts), drop your luggage and give him a quickie but don't let him ejaculate (if he doesn't have 'stamina', do the dry sex thing) . Take a shower together and go down for a nice dinner. Tell him how much you appreciate him being a wonderful husband and father (if you have a card give it to him). Tell him how much you're glad to be his wife and his lover and that the weekend is all about pleasuring him and investing in your future together... Then tell him that you are just so incredibly horny that you cannot wait to get back to the room and continue what you started...
And take him back to the room, put on said lingerie and finish him. Order in breakfast the next morning. Shag him again. Rest and then head out to do something fun together like you did before you got married and had kids.
If you are the high need partner, you may have to cut down the frequency to let the ol' boy rest a bit before shocking his system like that again.
If he is the high need partner, then overload his sockets on sex. Give him all of you and hold nothing back (i.e. Bend, Lick and Suck). But between sex and before he falls off to sleep, you tell him again gently how much you love him and care for him. Ask him he's happy and what can you do to make his life better. Dream big again with him and let him know that you believe that the best of your lives together are yet to come.
By the time you two head back home, your husband will walk taller, laugh harder and feel like a stud-meister. And you my dear, would have accomplished your mission "to make him feel special and loved." You've would made him a better man.
Remember, the number #1 need of husbands is Sex. The number #1 need of wives is Affection.

Emily: *Sigh* I think that you should put the kids to bed or get a sitter for the night. If you choose the "put-the-kids-to-bed" option, have ou and your husband share a carton of icecream in front of the fireplace or even at the counter! Ask him about his day but don't talk about any stressful topics. If you choose to get a sitter, take him to get a pedicure (guys like it too!) or go to a fancy resteraurant. Just go all out for your guy, once a month maybe.
Serena: Go out to a very romantic place or resteraurant. Have a wonderful meal--er, dinner. And maybe if you live by a beach, go look like at the sunset or whatever you guys or doing and look at the sky or whatever.

Men are very visual people. They love to look. Pick a song you both like and maybe dance for him a bit. Also, men love foreplay as much as women do, if you take it slow and tease a lot it'll make everything much better because of the anticipation. Have a great time!!!

I give my husband massages. Little love notes are a good idea, too. In his lunch box, his car, or in his shaving kit, or text it to his phone while he's at work (if he's got one). Or maybe shower or take a bath together after the kids go to bed, wash each other and play.

I was going to suggest stripping naked and cluck like a chicken in the master bedroom, but seeing that you mentioned children...?
My wife always surprises me by turning off the lights in the house sometimes, and puts lit candles in strategic places in the kitchen--before leading me into it, while holding me, kissing me, and just telling me how much she loves me.
About the only thing I can think of at the moment.

cook dinner put the kids down for bed and prepare a candle lit setting out side in the back yard wih soft music playing and champagne when he omes home be wearing something sexy and reveiling too it will semm like you are on a romantic date but in the comfort of your own home.

the thing i do to make my husband happy is give him some head in the middle of the night when all the kids are sleep. the next morning he is piratically singing. do it it will work.
