they are right.
putting things in the microwave (EVERYTHING except water), changes their molecular structure and makes it a carcinogen (cancer-causing) For milk, it destroys the nutrional value also. Just heat it in a pan of water over the stove. Microwaves should be avoided as much as possible. Like I said, they destroy the nutritional value of our foods, and also make them cancer-causing. the long-term effects are bad. i know it sounds old-fashioned, but its true. science and nutritionalists have found that our origional worries about microwaves decades ago were correct.
Its also especially unsafe to microwave anything plastic, as it can also alter the food

I microwaved both of my boys' bottles and they both lived to tell about it. The only things you have to remember are to take the top of the bottle completely off and set it aside when you microwave the bottle. It depends on how powerful your microwave is, but I found that 15 seconds was good for a 6 ounce bottle using my microwave. When it's heated, put the nipple/ring back on, and shake the bottle slowly 10 times to distribute the heat of the formula/breast milk. I've heard that's the main concern with microwaving bottles--they heat unevenly, and there can be hot pocked in the bottle which may burn the baby's mouth.

Our water, out of the tap, gets hot enough that I don't have to use a bottle warmer. Just find a tall glass that the bottle will fit into. Fill the glass about half way with hot tap water, then drop the bottle in it for 3 - 5 minutes. No need to buy a bottle warmer. They, too, if you leave the bottle in too long get the formula too hot.
NEVER, NEVER use the microwave. The bottle could melt, burst, or scald the inside of a baby's mouth as the formula will heat unevenly. It's just mind boggling to me that one of the previous answers was from someone that worked at a daycare and they said that this is how the daycare warms up a bottle. No wonder my child doesn't go to daycare. That's scary!!!

Yes if you are using formula. I used to just heat the water in the micro and then add the formula and shake/stir it very well to mix and make sure there are no hot spots. If it is breast milk then no because it can destroy some of the nutrients. If possible though use a bottle warmer which can be purchased at the baby stores for about $15. I only relied on the micro when I did not want to listen to the baby scream for 5 minutes waiting for the bottle to heat up if she woke up from a nap extra hungry.

There is some concern over chemicals in the plastics these days so it's unwise to microwave in anything but Pyrex I think.
The real danger in microwaving baby's milk is that it heats unevenly and so it may scorch or destroy some of the milk while leaving the rest unheated; which is why you must thoroughly mix anything heated that way.
Best advice: Microwave a cup & 1/2 of water and then place the bottle in the warm water. It only take a few seconds to warm it, shake it up good and test it before you give it to her. It should be about you body temperature which is why you see people drip some on their wrist.
Good Luck!

No, don't ever microwave it. Most bottles aren't microwavable. It's bad because it causes harm to the formula or breastmilk, and does NOT heat the milk to an even temperature, which can burn the baby. Just put the bottle of milk in hot water, and wait a few minutes, and that's all you need to do. The bottle doesn't have to be hot, it just needs to be at least room temperature.

I have a 6 month old son and for the first few months we microwaved his bottles. And even though people say that it is bad he never got hurt or grew a third arm. If you just heat it without the nipple for about 10 second increments until warm then shake the bottle up to even out the hot spots then you should be just fine. Good luck.

The microwave is fine to use. You just need to make sure that you check the temperture of the bottle before you give it to the baby. The same as you would have to do if you boiled it. It sounds like they are misinformed. You use a microwave to heat things for yourself, right? Haven't grown any extra limbs or anything, right?

Never use a microwave to warm the baby’s formula. A microwave may cause “hot spots” that burn the baby’s mouth even if you shake it up afterwards.
Instead put some water in a pot until it's boiling and then set the bottle in it to warm up.

NO microwave is not good just get you some hot water and sit the bottle in there for a little while and make sure you test it before you give it to the baby.
