Nah, I think we'll have to get to 2009-2010 before it comes back.

As long as the music doesn't sound cringeworthy like the '80s did in the '90s and still does, I'm all for it. It would be interesting to see how some bands manage to come into the 21st century after not being in the 20th century for some years - I mean The Wonder Stuff haven't had a UK Top 20 hit since February 1994, and The Lightning Seeds have been quiet since the late 90s.

I'd say in a couple of years, going with the whole 15-20 yr trend cycle that we seem to follow. In the US we're still just getting through late 90's stuff.

The lifetime of bands has also increased, a lot of the pop people that came up in the late 90's are still around, although I tend to think that the 90's will be remembered for the rise of grunge, hip-hop , mainstream punk, angry girl rock, and (briefly) ska.

None of these genres individually seem like they have much staying power. It is hard to recepture the feeling of grunge when you're pushing 30, hip-hop and mainstream punk are mostly made up of disposable bands nowadays, and ska never really caught on anyway.

And you can only put up with Alanis Morisette-like anger for so long.

So, we're due for a revival pretty soon, but I can't imagine what they'll be playing to represent the 90's.

Not a genuine revival, but perhaps a desperate marketing revival attempting to sell us stuff we only just bought. The 70s were a massive joke until the mid 90s. Expect the real revival in 2013.

no need for a 90s revival yet because rock music has not changed much since then which is kind of sad.

the cycle seems to run about 29 tears of the chosen decade...in the 70s' it was the 50's revival...the 80s brought us a 60s deal...and so forth and so on...give it another 10 years or so...and then it'll be on...
